Has anyone or do you know of anyone that has successfully pulled there automatic and put in a 5sp or 6sp standard transmission , I love my truck but that is my only beef with it , I wish now that I didn't listen to my wife cause she wanted me to get the auto .

Call Jim at Basleys complete 5 speed with everything you needto switch di mine a year ago easy install only took me and a couple buddies a day. His number is 1 724 455 6100 in Pa. you will love the 5 speed. All the stuff you need he will have, but you will have to buy your own clutch I think it was around two grand.

what about a modified auto (which you'd probably love)? do you just want a transmission that gets the power to the ground or is it simply the love of manual over automatic that you prefer?

That was what my ex said. I am never going to buy something that is not what I wont. The money comes out of my check...

As for the power to the ground I dont think that the auto will give 100% in every gear, engine braking will even require more work to make the auto work. Below 1750 the oil pump in a automatic is not at full pressure, because of volume of oil pump. The reason to not use lock up below 1750. 1750 rpms may not be on the money but close. If some would install a nv4500 in my 4x4 for the same price as a aftermarket auto then I will go for the nv4500

The auto is easer for me to get under trailer though. That is about it though. JimK
