Carlisle tires?

towing up hill question

Now its time to make a choice on load distribution hitch for a 31' travel trailer. There are so many companies that I dont know which one is the best.

The list below is just a few that I have found... What you think????

I am looking for a system that will support 1000lbs of tongue weight and 12k of trailer. The trailer does not weigh that much but if I ever pull a bigger one. . I buy once and be done with it. .

Thanks

I use to have a Reese Dual Sway cam hitch but had a lot of trouble with sway. I called Holiday Rambler & they said to get the Hensely hitch. Bought one & it is great, no sway. If you drop a wheel of the shoulder you don't have to fight it to get it back on the road. They are expensive ($2500. 00) but worth every penny. If you buy one & don't like it they will refund your money & pay the shipping back.

Not meaning to be a smarty, but why do you want that much weight on the bumper. A 5er would be easier to handle, if you get a bigger trailer I would consider it.

Currently we do have a 5th wheel... In needing to make some changes we are selling the 5th wheel to a couple that has a wonderful 1999 31' travel trailer that they are going to give us!

With doing this... its going to save a bunch of money each month. We will eventually go back to a 5th wheel but for now... we will have a trailer to camp in...

Just check on the Equal-i-zer... . and it looks like this will be the unit I get. I liked the idea of having 4 point sway control without having to put extra stuff on ... .

Thanks

I use a Reese dual cam WD/sway control hitch. it mounted up nice to the trailer and you dont have to mess with tensioners and grease to keep it functioning. you just chain up the bars and go.

we have a 30foot TT and it hauls like a dream with the reese hitch. I got it from www.Reese-hitches.com

One thing I forgot to mention is that the Equal-i-zer is noisy. Going down highway it's okay, but in tight turns and twisty roads you'll notice some creaking and groaning. First time you hear it you'll wonder if something broke.

There are a couple of lubrication points on the hitch, but the parts that are making the noise are not to be greased. The friction is what gives part of the sway control. That's how it was explained to me by the techs at the rv dealership.

After a few turns around the block you get used to the groaning.

I have Reese Dual Cam sway control. You have to pull them tight to be effective. Towing with a 3/4 Yukon the set up is marginal. That's why I now have the dually. As stated above, Hensley Arrow is without a doubt the best. I thought they were limited to 10K though. I have the 12K Reese.
