I have 80 horse injectors, Fass fuel pump, smarty and comp box on my 99. It seems when i run the truck really hard and build 40 to 45 lbs of boost and then hit the clutch the turbo will chirp and I clutch it or just make it so there is no load on the moter the truck wants to die. Or the rpms will dip way low and then throttle up and put out a big puff of smoke. One time the truck died and i had to bleed 3 lines at the flow tubes to get it to start. Anybody else have this problem or know how to fix it.

yes with hard fueling if you drop right out of it, it will die, with manual you can roll start. If it dies all the way , most of the time it wont start back, you will have to use eaither or crack a line or two!

Sounds like a injector problem... . Does it happen with no smarty? I had a similar problem with a friends truck & it was a injector. It could be a vapor lock that you haven't released.

There is info here on that. It is a fuel shortage caused by the fuel pickup in the tank not being able to refill fast enough. There are parts to buy to fix it but guys I know just removed it and drilled a bunch of holes in it so it gets more fuel. Another bad spot to slow fuel down and cause it is the small fuel line between the filter and pump.

 i guess everyone has there opinion, ive ran diffrent pickups and run a fass 150 that never drops below 15lbs , ask someone who runs big sticks, If theres a major drop in fuel PSI maybe but if psi is normal in the pull there should be no problem. An injector will cause it but if there above stock size and you directly lift out of a fueled pull it will sputter and die, its not a fuel shortage. Ask around theres plenty of people who will back me on it!

Not doubting you, just adding some other things that I have personally seen on 3 pickups that I know of right off hand that caused this exact thing and the solutions that took care of the problem. It is not an opinion, it is what the problem was and what fixed it. Not saying that is the problem here, just adding possible causes and things to look at.

To clarify my terminology it is not a fuel shortage as it is air in system that causes the "Vapor lock" or whatever other terminology you want to use.

1 pickup was fixed by simply using the big line kit to pump. and 2 had the fuel pickup problem in tank. All had larger injectors and a comp and all had different transfer pumps with no pressure problems either.

 Lunderwood what do you see when you look up? :-laf

i havent killed mine yet. it just drops really low. i just plan for it to do it now and just blip the throtle a few time and it seems to take care of it

whew! now i can relax, mine did that after i smoked a mustang the other day, and has done it a couple of times since...

sorry guys, i think that came out wrong, i can barely see the tops of my eyelids when i look up, Its my birthday and i havent had a day off in 7 months 12 hour days... i think im over doing it ! hahahaha
later yall!

Well thanks for the help guys and the truck does do it without the smarty but not as easy to do it with just the comp. Also i have a fass fuel system with the 150 pump so i dont think it is a fuel shortage. I have the lines that came with the fass system ran from tank to injection pump but i need a bigger pickup tube feeding the FASS i am sure it could pump more.

Check out the vulcan draw straw... . it is a nice unit. I think it is a injector problem, but I may be wrong. ;)

Im betting the drawstraw wont solve the problem, it may help! I ran a similar device with no avail! It somthing about the way a smarty fuels with big sticks, I had only done it once to my truck without the smart ! I agree try the drawstraw and see if it helps, my bet is be looking for a vp if it contiually gets worse!

thats what i was thinking. . i dont have a smarty and mine is doin it pretty consistantly...

also wanted to mention that you should try letting out slowly! If you drop right out of this fuel its almost as if the vp dosent see its idle, just drops right out. Im sure theres an explanation, im not sure what the technical answer is! Just make sure you have plenty of room to run it out. If it happens when you havent fueled hard and pull right out, Then theres a problem! If i gets worse post another post and we'll go over the things i went through with my truck!

well it doesnt happen alot it has only happened a few times but i was just wondering if there is a way to fix it. The vulcan draw straw that was suggested cant i just buy a bigger piece of hose from napa and use it to fee my unit on the tank or is it a quick disconnect deal like the line going to the fass

search for homemade fuel draws . I think the best option is just to buy one! I dont think it will solve your problem unless your loosing all your fuel pressure! The best fix is to not come all the way out quick! It happens less on a lower smarty SW as well!
