I am writing this for my Dad. I was driving his 2002 3500 2wd in Phoenix two days ago and after accelerating rather hard (3,000 rpm 2nd - 5th) form a rolling start I pushed in on the clutch and the engine died  and had to coast off the road. Dad put a FASS system in about three months ago and has about 2500 miles on it. Most of his use is towing his 5th wheel. So after we got it off the road ( he was with me. Not just out having fun in dad's truck :-laf ) I tried to restart it and all it would do is crank, but not even try to fire. when I would turn on the key the FASS system would come on and fuel pressure would come up to about 15 psi and then drop off a bit. We tried 8 or 10 times then Dad went for the starting fluid. :( The engine was up to tempature so we we did not worry about the heater grid and the starting fluid doing bad things. After three tries the engine started and then ran fine for the rest of the day. And even now. This is the second time Dad said this has happened since he put the FASS system on. About Dad's truck. 2002 3500 2wd cummins 5 spd, PDR 35 turbo, 4" jardin exaust, Edge comp, SB con "ofe" clutch, DD2 injectors.

Any help in figuring this out would be great. Harlan JR.

I am having the same problem with my truck. I just researched this last week trying to figure out what is going on with my truck. I have the ddII injectors fass fuel system also. Along with a comp box and a smarty i was wondering if it could be the injectors. Since both of our trucks have the ddII's. The reason the truck does it is called vapor lock it is when the engine is pulling very hard and then fuel is shut of to it. There is so much fuel going to the injection pump that when you let off of it and clutch it, applying no load, the truck will die out unless you downshift and let the moter turn with the transmission. They say that if you put a bigger line in the tank feeding the fass sytem that it would help but i havent tried it yet. I am going to sometime soon just because i want this problem fixed. I always have to bleed my lines at my flow tubes to get it to fire back up.

when i read my codes with my smarty when the stall out happens it shows the same codes that always show. They are the overfuelling or over boost codes.

get used to it, it seems to be a normal thing with heavely modded truck. i think its a computer problem, and that i doesnt see idel on the way back down.

most thing i have read about the fass is that you cant pull them down to 0 psi, so that means the vp always has some fuel going to it, so where does the vapor lock come into play?

it happened to me once after whooping a mustang, same thing. it also lopes like it wants to die if i get on it hard and come off, the time it died i had the torque coverter locked and came to a hard start so i am sure that had alot to do with it. started after cranking for a while though.
