Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Trying to get new fuel lines on the 98 12V

I just recieved my fuel lines from larry B and am replacing them. I have the old thermoplastic ones off, and am trying to put the new ones on. I am having problems getting on the lines next to the lift pump. The rib on the metal line seems to be too large for the marine grade fuel line to stretch. Can anyone offer any advice on how to proceed????

Are you using the correct diameter hose for the line?

If so, just try putting a drop or two of oil inside the hose and on metal fuel line. Push in and rotate the hose back and forth at the same time. They are difficult to put on but it is a "one time installation".

Make sure you have the hose clamp on the hose(loose) before installation.

You will need a first aid kit also for the nicks, cuts and scratches. :{

I just did the process twice on mine within two months time. First time I had trouble and ended up putting regular multi-fuel lines back on. I'm embarrassed to admit it but the main reason that I had the trouble was I failed to note the difference in the size of the lines. What were there prior to my change-out were the same size (actually incorrect on one) and I read the print and assumed the steel lines were both 3/8". They are not the same, one is 3/8" and the other is 5/16" and I'd tried to put the small marine line from Larry B on the 3/8" steel line. Could it be that you've made my mistake? When I rebuilt my starter solenoid last week I took the time to do my fuel lines over again. They are tight but went on OK. This time I got it right! Ditto on the first aid supplies--OUCH!

Get some Silglide from NAPA to help with the hoses.

I just boil a small pot of water and soak the end of the hose in the water for a minute or so before putting the hose end on. Yea its a little hot, and its tuff keeping the water hot enough for more than one end, but it works very well
