tst should just say if you have a bigger turbo, injectors, exhaust and intake use a certain # and higher. I wouldnt be mad about that at all... at least its there and will give more motivation to make your truck more powerful :)

Nick

I wondered about that, MARK @ TST said he has not been able to find anything that controls the egt with this box... wierd

not even a honking turbo swap? or 5 inch exhuast?

that must be a heck of a shot of power...

floor it: you one lucky dude

Thats awesome, I hope to heck they dont down-tune this box for production! As others have mentioned, having a box you can grow into would be fantastic - instead of how some ppl start with an ez and then move to a comp etc. .

And what a fantastic reason to get twin turbos!

if they tune it down i wont buy it when it comes time to get my box. (which is in a couple months. Got my exhaust and just ordered all my gauges last night :) )

Floor it, are you happy with the digital gauges? Do they update fast enough to let you now what's really going on but not jump around a lot. Is there a dimming feature? If not, do they seem overly bright or dim? Sorry about all the Q's.

-Scott

I called yesterday and I was told I was #39. I don't understand how you could move from 30 to 40, unless some people are getting preferential treatment from TST. I was told some boxes would ship out today, but no idea how many would ship. The waiting game continues.

Carl

One reason they can't declare any meaningful correlation between EGTs and various power settings and air mods is because there are too many variables. In other words, it takes quite a bit of experimentation for the recommendations to be accurate and mean anything substantive.

so I don't fault them for not indicating this. We all know that the stock truck runs hot and that any power mods require a pyrometer. So when you put this box on your truck and drive it the way you want, pulling the loads you have, at the speeds you need and at the required elevation, in various weather conditions and outside temps, and with whatever mods you have, you'll find out where your limits are. And the cool thing about this box is that the EGT protection allows you to make more use of the available power for short bursts on the higher power settings, while taking advantage of the "virtual lower power setting" accomplished by the de-fueling.

The digital gauges seem great to me. They dont have a dimming switch to them but it doesent seem that bright. I like the EGT part, its really fast ans seem very accurate. I just got done putting my B-1 quick spool on because last night around midnight I popped my stock turbo:( I have had some problems with it not want to bleed off boost very fast when it was stock and with the edge box too. Oh well there wasnt too much damage so now tomarrow I'll find out how much better it isOo.

John

You popped your stock turbo? Care to elaborate on that a little?

Was the B1 a direct bolt in or did you have to tweek anything (ie exhaust)? Please post how it affects EGT's compared to what little experience you had with the HY and the TST. Listen to me, I'm almost ghitty. OMG did I say that out loud?

-Scott

Floor-It, after you run around with the B1 for a day or two I want to hear your impressions of it with the PMaxCR, and how EGTs behave.

Floor it Thanks for all of the input you are giving everyone. Mark and Greg have worked their tail's off on this project. I know they have been pressured with all the calls ( WHERE IS MY BOX) and other questions. I spent some time on their dyno back in DEC. and went for a ride in Marks truck ( AWESOME POWER ). Its nice for people to here from another source other than the manufacture on a new product. I think everyone needs to give them a thumbs up for all their hard work and efforts. We hope to have are box to test with very soon. We are going to be trying a few things on Marks dyno and will post the results as soon as we can. Thanks again Floor it and good luck to everyone with this awesome box.

Looking at their Dyno chart I am surprised that the torque curve is not flatter. It seems to peak early, which is great, but then it starts droping off right away also. Would be nice to see some other torque setting #s at some point in time.

two comments on the shape of the torque curve:

1. a peak at 1700, it seems, would be good for towing under cruise control. if your speed drops, you've got a torque peak curve to really help get you back on track.

2. remember this is on a stock truck with after market manipulation of the fueling instructions. The way Cummins achieves such a flat torque curve on the stock engine is via fueling control and the wastegate. My guess is that (fueling/wastegate) tuning is no longer valid in that regard. That is, the effect of pulse width across a wide rpm range is not linear with respect to torque gains.

makes you wonder if 1700 is a fuel economy sweet spot...

This tst box is sure destructive to the stock system in the wrong hands! I wish it had a password code, so valets won't pump it to double 9's and roast the trans or worse =]

Lightman,

If the new new Powermax CR is like the 2nd Gen's Powermax 3s you can set the box at a certain setting and then unplug the remote to lock that setting (until the remote is plugged back in). Or you can hide the remote... .

John

Wow... . Floor it has his turbo blow and his trans slipping... Must be an awesome box!!! :). I cant wait to hear how the bigger turbo is.

BTW= Why would you guys even trust a valet with your truck. . Id never do it

Nick

'Valet' does not automatically mean someone who parks your car for you.

This mode of reduced power operation would also apply to your sibling or other trusted individual who really has to drive your truck because you can't, etc..... say if you've had to much do drink...

Isn't that when you generally go "hey watch this when I turn it all the way up, it will be cool!!!"

That liquid courage can do great things
