I doubt there is a "tune friendly" dealer out there. Take the truck, your tuner, and your wallet to a good Ram dealer, show/tell them what you did, what the problem is, and ask them to fix it. The ECM is a black box, so they can see parameters changed and spec exceeded.

This is likely the best advice for you to fellow.

Cheers, Ron

I already said the "you are your own warranty station"!

So, we strongly agree. might be some more who do too, or the thread might just die.

Thanks for the response but, I’m not too concerned with warranty. I was looking to have the recalls worked without anyone plugging into the obd2 port. I guess I’m more interested in a reputable dealer .
For what it’s worth, my last truck was a 2006 with a 5.9 C 250,000 miles no EGR etc... and I only replaced a water pump. Wife has a 335d deleted and tuned with 95000 and have the only thing ever failed is the HB. And rear tires.

3.5 years I have had 5 or 6 reflash recalls. I do not think a dealer will even touch your truck and bring into a service bay without first plugging in their service dongle, which is part of the overall RAM service system.

What are you looking for as far as recalls what numbers and parts?

I too am my own warranty station and have been since 2009, with no regrets. My total repair bill for my engine and transmission has been $0.00. If I hadn't become my own warranty station I could easily have seen hundreds of dollars repairing by now for the emission equipment on my truck. Now I have had a couple of recalls done such as the front passenger and driver side air bags that were done last Aug of 2018.

I bought a OBDII cover from Geno's Garage on page 9, that was in their fall catalog 2018. The part number for this is GG-TUNERSVR which sells for $45. This locks in place and the OBD II port can not be accessed. When I went in for the recalls the dealer service writer was not a happy camper with me. In came back into the office area and aske me if I could access the cover on the port. I said sure and we went out together to the truck to allow him to access the port. He got what he wanted and I relock the port cover.

All of the updates were done with the air bags but nothing else was touched electronically. I am happy and FCA was happy that the air bags were finial serviced.

Now that I understand better your situation, you can approach any Ram dealer and explain your truck is tuned and what you want them to do. I had a tiny padlock and chain securing my OBD II port and specific standing instructions with the dealer no flashes or updates without my permission. That truck was deleted too. If ithere was a needed update, I would remove the tune, get it flashed and put it back on.

I did this while truck was both in and out of warranty. I could have asked for more information, because I assumed you were asking about a dealer who would work on your truck and not document it was tuned.

Good luck, Ron

I believe that any time one changes the programming in the ECM that they can no longer make incremental updates to it. They would either flash it back to stock to update it, or say they can not work on it. Each year they tighten up the control over this programming.

SnoKing,
With the Smarty on my 2009 Ram 4500, the flashes stayed with the tune all 9 years I owned the truck. And when I traded it for my 5500, it was current on flashes, EPA compliant, and code free. The Smarty always saved the stock tune and associated programming.

Soooooo, I can't speak for all the tuners, but for the Smarty on the 2009 Cummins 6.7L, I am correct about it saving stock program with flashes and restores that complete stock program.

Exactly, its not like in the older days, this new trucks NEED the updates to work properly, they come unfinished from the factory and do refinement over the years.
Thats why dealers plug them in first, and then do repairs.

The new trucks don't connect via the OBDII port, it's all wireless. So blocking a port might not do any good.

Starting with which model year. On my 2015, they plug a dongle in and it talks wireless to their computers. Are you saying that they are bypassing the system. Not all trim levels have wifi enabled?

I understood that 4th gen's all had a transmitter installed, and the OBDII adapter was for older vehicles.

Pretty sure no tradesman has wifi enabled.
