I would like to hear from someone that has used a banks product with a 6sp and hasnt had any problems. it would be nice if you could use that banks turbo/intercooler with an ATS manifold with the edge juice attitude.

Oh ya!! She,s very nice looking. Thats where it ends though. They have made her to silly lately. She did not seem that way in the first couple shows that I saw. Oh well I guess it pays her bills Oo. coobie

"I wonder how many idiots put boxes that are capable of adding 100 to 150 HP and proceed to destroy a perfectly good engine, then cry when someone else won't pay for it. "

AMEN, brother! ;)

How many times have we read on THIS board of some owner with aftermarket mods blowing his transmission or something similar, and then FRANTICALLY removing the add-ons so he could defraud the guy HE chooses to refer to as "#$ealer

Circumstantial ethics at it best...

"circumstantial ethics"

That is not only the best but the best polite description I have ever heard describing that situation. I assume you are not using this term in reference to the blonde on the tv show. :-laf

Who cares how the installion is done on these programs , we all know better . You think the producers put those girls on becuase of their fabricating skills or for better ratings?

Look at the girl from the Discovery Channel's Overhauled prgram .

Chip Foose is a talented guy but she does carrry the show a bit.

Eye candy is a good thing for marketing .

Lift Pump Diagnosis

In 1999, knowing next to nothing about my new CTD, I went to Banks facility for install of a Stinger Plus system. They were extremely courteous and proceeded to start working on my truck. After about thirty minutes the shop foreman politely declined to install the system due to a weak lift pump. They explained that Cummins and Chrysler were aware of the situation but if I were to go to the dealer they would not concede a problem existed. Wishing me good luck, they sent me on my way with an extremely deflated sense of confidence in my new truck. Sure enough the dealer after procuring the diagnostic tools declared my lift pump within specs and sent me on my way. Oh well what does Banks know anyway thinks me, so I purchased a VA box and was blown away by the power increase not knowing that I was further stressing out our weak link. Sure enough the lift pump did fail leaving me stranded in the driveway. After towing it to the dealer sans the VA box they replaced it courtesy of STAR. Banks sure did know what they were talking about that day but I've come to a common conclusion that their stuff is over-hyped and overpriced. :D

Yeah, lets stick with the issues. The Banks bashing is getting a little old. Stick around Peter and lets keep things up to date.

Vaughn:

I realize that injection failures and engine meltdowns aren't unique to

Banks only. One difference between them and their competitors as I

stated above is they want you to "believe" that their products don't

have the potential to harm your engine when we all know they can

and do. As "RedRam401" pointed out; "Will Banks stand behind their

product after the problem arises?" In the case I pointed out, it

is still unresolved to my knowledge. Time will tell... ... ... ... ... ... .

Benson:

I have given actual facts to Peters' assertion that members of this

site "take a negative perspective towards Banks. " I don't see it

as "bashing" if their actions towards others (like my example with

their ads concerning TST) bring a negative impression upon them.

As I said earlier, IMO they bring alot of the criticism upon themselves.

Sorry if it seems like "bashing" to you... ... ... ... ...

Guys don't run Peter off.

If he stays a while he might even learn something. :D

Guys you have to remember he is here cause this is his job.

Give him a break he is doing his job. He might be able to provide us with some useful information.

Peter you think 735hp was a mile stone, how about double that?

I thought that 735HP was on a HPCR 3rd gen engine????

If so, I think that is a great mile stone considering that is the ONLY Common-rail engine I know of over 700hp

I thought the Banks products were pretty interesting.

I also find it funny that the guy that lost his motor and started ragging on Banks is BS for two reasons. 1. He admitted to trashing the truck in prior posts numerous times, not to mention towing on levels 5 and 6. . and 2. , he complained that Banks wasn't open at lunch time. "SO WHAT?" The Banks instructions is pretty clear on how to bypass the system, and if the whiner broke down at 5:30 PM, does he expect Gale to give out his home phone number for calls after hours?

Again, I'd be very interested in buying this set up when it comes out, its a lot easier than twins, and probably just as efficient.

Peter:

FWIW, alot of the "negative perspective" towards Banks is brought on

by your company itself!!! Examples???

1. ) Your recent ad in many of the 4WD magazines shows your "Banks Six-Gun Speedloader" and makes comparisons to some of your competitors such as TST. You show TST with nine (9) years of experience with diesel

performance! WRONG Peter!!! Mark Chapple (owner of TST) has OVER

thirty (30) years of experience in the diesel industry with alot of that

experience working for Cummins as an Engineer!! I guess Gale or his

R&D crew for advertising should do their homework before they post

an ad like that.

2. ) In July 2003, you debuted your "Banks Sidewinder LSR Truck" at the

ATS Truckfest Rally held at Bandimere Speedway just outside Denver,

Colorado to drag race it in an exhibition against the Scott Bentz Cummins

Diesel Dragster. (BTW,... ... the Scott Bentz Dragster beat your Sidewinder

truck pretty handidly!!) Gale Banks called Clint Cannon @ ATS before that event and had them build a complete Stage IV ATS TripleLok Transmission

for your truck so it could be drag raced without the "delay" of the manual

you had in it for the LSR run. I was at that rally and your own pit crew

that day wouldn't even admit it was an ATS Transmission even though

the thing was painted purple!!! I know because I looked under the truck!!

When I asked your crew "what kind of automatic transmission are you guys

running they replied "It's a Banks!" Yeah, right... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

Now I see your new "Banks High Performance Torque Converter" which

was displayed on the "Extreme 4X4 Show" which by the way showed

to be a "multi-disc with a billet cover. " To be honest with you, it looked

ALOT like the ATS TripleLok Converter with the exception that the discs

looked to have "round tabs" rather than the square tabs that Clint @ ATS

designed and I believe has a "patent pending. " We hear that "Pro-Torque"

in New York builds your torque converters, is that right????

3. ) I personally know one of your customers who experienced an engine

failure in his 2004 Dodge CTD CR last year about this time up in Indiana/

Illinois while running your Banks Six-Gun w/Speedloader. Specifically,

the #6 piston was badly scored and you guys (so far) have refused

to help him. I won't get any deeper into this because I believe it is

still in litigation, but,... ... ... ... . your own ad says; "the Banks Six Gun

is the upgrade needed for BIG horespower and torque gains, matched

with comprehensive airflow improvements to keep your engine and

transmission cool while you're smokin' your buddies. " I guess that

Six Gun didn't keep the engine too cool in this case I mention huh??

Peter, I know of more incidents but that is enough for now. I think

you get the idea. As you said yourself; "you (us) are entitled to our

opinions. " You got that right, but in my personal case my opinions

are a result of what I have personally seen your company do over

the last few years.

dude, chill out, my god, you are acting like some kid just took your lunch box at recess.

I don't work for Banks, but have spoken to Gale numerous times. He is fairly knowledgeable and is a leader in todays diesel development. I think Gale probably knows just a little more about diesels than you do.

His truck is a top end charger, not a dragster. Get over it.

So what if he doesn't build his converters directly, this isn't that unusual. Many times companies build to others specs. .

I've heard and read many gripe about TST products throwing codes, and woofing turbos, but never have seen you get on your soap box against TST. .

About the guy that lost number 6. . Dude, read some of his other posts, where is gloats about beating the crap out of his truck, like towing in 5 and 6... Maybe its just possible that he was a fault. . yah think?

Hasselbach,

Whatever happen to that dragrace you were supposed to have?

Now your calling someone a kid? :-laf

Peter, I have one question about the VGT turbo. Will it work as a stand-alone where you could install it but run someone else's box, or are you tied in with the 6-Gun only? It would make sense if you didn't use the 6-Gun you would lose some interface benefits but there's quite a few box choices out there and it would be nice to use the turbo with whatever one someone wanted.

Vaughn

Hasselbach, Let's not forget that Bank's says that the 6 gun will defuel with high egt or trans slip!

So how can yo hold that guy responsible for towing in 5 or 6 if banks tells us it's safe!

Chill

Some people have problems with some vendors. The PRIMARY GOAL of this website is INFORMATION. When a vendor has the courage to get on this board and discuss their product -- agree with it or not -- but for pete sake don't jump down the throat of the messenger.

Agree to disagree and move on. PeterT is trying to share info -- if you disagree with him or don't like Banks that's your choice.

We are better off with the vendors stating their views then if we allow an environment that penalizes them for participating.

State your opposing view -nicely- without inflammatory "'your product is #(#$*&@#$" and I won't have to bring out the big moderator hammer.

Keep in mind; you just might be wrong. You can't get all the info into a 30min show; the hired help you queried at such-and-such an event may not have a clue; etc.
