"Lamp out"

On a 2005 RAM 3500 there is a part under hood called a "Striker" (part # 55275843AB). This is the "secondary" hood release and on this "striker" is a green plastic part called a "rod retaining clip". For reasons known only to FCA, they do not sell this part (clip) separately. You must purchase the entire "Striker" assembly to obtain this $1.50 clip! Does anyone have any idea as to a replacement for this clip? Anyone out there who has been there before? Info appreciated. Thanks.

Does the "Green Clip" connect a small diameter round rod to the latch? If that is the piece, I would go to a body shop supply or a body shop itself and see if they have that clip. Those clips are also used on inside door handles for the link to the latch in the door. At the worst case, drill the rod with a small gauge drill and use a cotter pin or safety wire to hold it in place.
Is it like these? https://www.autozone.com/collision-...ock-rod-clip/help-door-lock-rod-clip/426081_0

Sounds like the same as my 99 was. I threaded the end, put 2 nuts (jam effect) with blue loctite. Now it is all metal like it should have been.

Thanks for the replies. I have tried all the places that handle those types of clips. I finally had a machinist friend of mine fabricate a "bushing" out of Delrin with the proper hole for the release rod and a nut on the other end of the rod. Should last longer than me! Thanks again. Its always interesting to see what other ideas are out there. Rekabeka

I've seen that style clip in the "Help" products by Dorman at the local parts stores (Advane, AutoZone, etc). My be worth a try...
