Since the thread I originally posted about my wife got closed, I thought I’d update about my wife’s condition in case some were interested.
She woke up with a 102.9* fever on the 14th, tested positive on the 15th. Her doctor told us to get a Pulse Oximeter to monitor her O2 levels. She said to call her if it got down between 90 and 93 and stayed there for a while. It got down to 92 on the 21st then down to 90 at midday the 22nd. Her doctor suggested we take her to the ER at Centennial or Vanderbilt in Nashville because if she needed more than basic care and needed to be transferred, none of the larger hospitals in Nashville were accepting transfers.
She was admitted to the ER and put in a room in the COVID unit at Centennial. Her O2 levels were in the mid 90’s Friday and Saturday. They put her on Remdesivir on Friday and had to increase her oxygen on Saturday. Sunday night her O2 was 94. This morning it was 92 and about an hour after she woke it dropped to 87. They put her on a Vapotherm and it went up to 96.
She got out of bed to use the bedside commode and it dropped to 85. They got her back in bed and let her rest for 20 minutes and it didn’t come back up. They’ve moved her to the ICU tonight and are going to put her on a BiPAP, similar to a CPAP machine, that forces oxygen into her lungs. Hopefully, this will be enough, but they will put her on a ventilator if necessary.
I have been told if they call and tell me her O2 level is dropping, that I need to go there as quickly as possible and sign a waiver or whatever I need to do to sit with her because she probably won’t have long to live at that point.
I ask that you pray for her recovery. It’s been a wild emotional roller coaster ride today. Thanks fellows.
