01 has been needin some upgrades so I have a few questions. Has anyone ran the exhaust systems from Geno's and how loud are they? What intake and what brand works well? Truck has been flawless for 185K and still pulls strong, just thought it could breath better... ... Thanks

I have a Volant Cold Air Intake and I love it, I dont have a new air manifold if thats what your asking, and I dont know anything about Geno's stuff sorry

Just asking about intakes, not really manifolds or major mods. The reason I'm asking about Geno's stuff is the service is great. Thanks

When you get a new air intake make sure that it has an enclosed case around the filter (Cold Air Intake) , otherwise you will be sucking in hot air from the engine compartment. Volant, S&B, and AFE are good ones.

I have a Silverline exhaust which I purchased thru Geno's. Quality seems very good and all the pipe hangers fit the stock locations on the truck. It is a bit loud for my taste and it does have a irritating drone inside the cab. I got rid of the stock resonator when I installed it, maybe I should have kept it, kind of been thinking about trying to quiet it down.

An exhaust system will buy you nothing (except that it sounds cool) without any other 'major' engine upgrades. A set of RV275's will probably give you the most bang for your buck without worrying about EGT's.

Dresslered, RV275's ???? The reason for replacing the exhaust is because of damage, was looking for a good one with out the noise. Thanks

Didn't realize it was damaged. Go for the throaty exhaust then. RV275's are nice little Bosch injetor upgrades that will give you a nice 42-hp gain.

I have the Stan's Headers exh. system. What I like about it is the huge Donaldson muffler. After install inside the cab is quieter than what it was with the OEM system. No drone whatsoever. Nice tone outside, but not loud. It's been on for 7 years. Very happy with it. They advertise on the TDR (sponsor list).
For intake system- for me, the OEM intake is the best. The inside past the filter is spotless, super clean. What more do I need? It's been tested to flow more then I need, so I'm happy. I have a friend with one of the major brand intake. He always has some oily dirt residue past filter. He tried using less oil on the filter but next time it was there again. It has him worried but he thinks he's helping the truck by that. I could not deal with that. Everyone is different. What works for one, others don't like. Good luck.

Dresslered, Yea , lent it to my son-in-law to haul some feed, he backed into a tree at his house, got the bumper, rear quarter, tailight, and folded the exhaust into the tire. Had to cut it off above the rearend. Said the tree jumped out of no where and pounced on the back of the truck. Damn Trees, Ha

I have'nt had any issues with the stock air cleaner , just looking for a filter that I can reclean myself. It never fails when I buy everthing for a service, air cleaner is what I'll forget. Had a bad experiance with one aftermarket air filter system on another truck, that is why I was asking what some of the other cummins guys are using.

Dang trees, we have mountains that jump around here. Stock air cleaner has been really good for me... I usually replace them at about 30k just because I feel guilty. Cummins has told me not to replace it until the Air Filter Service Indicator says so. Must be this Kalifornia clean (green) air.

Yea, Cummins told me that too, I try to change it every other oil change ( 10 k ) . If I waited for the indicator to pull down , it starts starving the engine. We don't have the clean air here in Az. all we have is dust and lots of it. Thanks for the advise
