THANKS.

towing with more power.

Have a problem with the brake unit. Sometimes will not come on, sometimes will come on but won't turn off, sometimes works good. I am thinking there is a ground problem. I don't have the paper work so I don't know how it works.

Anyone have this type of problem?

paccool... I don't have the same brake as you, but you might try looking up a camperworld store in the yellow pages and call them. They sell lots of those and may be of help.
Good Luck!

First thing to do is change the little watch-battery in the on/off button!!! Then go look at the ground straps.

Darn, didn't think about the small battery in the control button. Will replace that first. Thanks for that input.

Paccool:
I had the same problem and found it to be the micro switch at the feed pedal. Read that accelerator. On my 96 Ram the pedal has a slight movement left to right and the small lever that contacts the arm would slip off the arm. I took a small block of wood and glued it to the side of the petal arm so it had contact all the time. Fixed the problem and have no trouble since.
Also you can bend the small arm on the micro switch to adjust for the correct time for the brake to come on and to shut off.
May sound strange but it worked and it still works fine after 65,000 miles.
Check it. Good luck.

Preston, is that on a US Gear unit? I don't think mine is set up that way but will look tomorrow to make sure. On mine there is a flat pressure switch that sits on top of the pedal. Remove your foot and it's supposed to turn the brake on and put our foot back on it and the brake turns off. Never did like that so I took it of and placed it out of the way and use the button for turning on and off. Really don't use it much and especially now since it doesn't work right.

Thanks for the help guys. #ad

paccool, I too had a problem with that pressure pad stuck on the throttle pedal. I unplugged it and used the on/off button. I did see an installation you may want to try: instead of a pressure switch, a microswitch under the hood at the end of the throttle linkage!... so when you lift off the throttle and it goes back to idle, it pushes the switch and turns the e-brake on! How did the battery replacement work out>?

Paccool:
I may have an old style, but it has a little arm from the micro switch that road on the back of the petal arm. What it does is when the brake is on and you have the petal depressed, it cuts the brake off till you life off the petal. A strange feeling to have the accelerator depressed and the brake trying to stop. With the Cummins, the brake loses.

By the way, had a pord man tell me today if I would change the injectors my Ram would pull like a pord. I told him if the power was going to drop off that much I would leave it just like it is. 300's are going though. #ad

Hope this you a little.

I like the sounds of the micro switch much better than the pressure pad. I think I'll get a switch and convert mine. Sounds much more responsive.

Had the same problem on mine. It was the micro switch on the throttle linkage. Moved it forward a bit and alls well.
