I bought my '06, six speed, with a bunch of new things about a year ago with 110k or so for $24 and I feel like I stole it. It also took me 6 months to find a clean third gen with a six speed.

It's crazy. A couple years ago when I very regrettably sold my '05 I had a hard time getting book for it, and it was a Laramie, loaded, with 52K miles. Now they are going for way, waaaay over book with four times the mileage. Hard to imagine.
I sold my 04.5 to my brother as my signature shows, he paid me 1k below book value at 19k and with only 70K miles with the NV5600, it's worth somewhere in the 25K range now. The worst in value 3rd Gens are the 07.5 thru 08, to many emission issues.

I also got tired of folks putting slips of paper under the wiper blades asking if I might consider selling. Then, After receiving a parts order order from Geno's garage, they included a complementary window sticker in that states "this truck is not for sale".
Solved a lot of problems.

Just bought a new 2014 diesel max. cab truck. I have a 04 to sell after the first of the year. All this sounds good to me. It is a Texas garaged truck that has not pull anything in it life time. It is a 4x4 short bed with 160k miles on it. My wife likes to drive a pickup over a car and that was the way it was used. I was going to take and use it my self but my 98's are running perfect. I am around cattle all the time and a pickup will get bent up. I just cant bear the thought of getting it bent up. Where would be the best place to offer it? I am 65 miles East of Lubbock, tx.

There was an '05 3500 qclb, auto, SLT 4wd fairly loaded here for sale awhile back. 37K. It had carried a cabover occasionally and was completely stock. The guy was asking 27K for it. One owner. My friend balked on it and it was gone in a day.

I wonder what my like-new signature truck with 91K miles on it would be worth. Even the undercarriage is like new. It's been garaged since new also.

That sounds about like mine except mine it is a 4x2 Laramie with 41k miles and completely stock. I recently was offered $45k for it and my '03 Lance 1121 slide in truck camper. Both have been garage kept and are in like new condition. I turned it down since I cannot just replace my truck alone for $45k. Another like sized truck camper, if we found one we liked, would be at least another $35-40k. Why sell a truck and RV in excellent condition in order buy replacements that cost at least twice as much more? I don't see the advantage!

I hate to bump an old thread but I'm trying to work a deal on an 06, 2500 6spd w/ 110k on the clock. They're asking a high price- about $7k over high retail but it is what it is. I waited a few months to avoid a payment on a 2015 model but I just get get myself to pony up $60k for a truck that gets used like a truck.

What is the price?, and see if you can negotiate it. But it will be a G56, so see if you can discount it with the cost of DMF replacement.

Sounds like you just did offer it to a group of enthusiasts :)

But if you need a larger audience Craigslist is likely the place.

Advertise in the DFW and East Texas areas... the market on low mileage 2500 4x4 5.9L is booming around here.. ESPECIALLY if UNMODIFIED!

I know that many don't believe me when I say it, but you would be shocked at the number of offers that I have had for my '07. I paid $36500 for it in May of '07 and I am getting offers in the low 30's consistantly.

I've had my truck only 3 weeks. It's an 07 dually 4x4. It's my 5th Dodge 3rd Gen truck, 3rd diesel. My last 2500 single cab, I was approached numerous times about selling it. This new truck I recently picked up, I pulled into to get some feed for the horses and I was offered $30k on the spot, after owning it only 3 weeks. I would've made a decent profit on it as I didn't spend close to that on it. I got a great deal on a low mileage dually. I passed on the offer. I looked around too long for this truck and want to keep it for a while.

You might go ont ramtrucks.com and check inventory of leftover 2014s. If you click on the VIN in the right column, you will open the dealer's page on that Ram and can see what discount they are offering. If you are getting near $40k you are in the price range for a new one! Get a used third gen and next you spend $3k plus installation for injectors, another $2k for clutch, flywheel, and installation of it. Then you should get a better lift pump and filtration system.

I hear ya Donnelly. That's somethning I'm thinking about.

My previous CTD's clutches never passed 120k and the one I'm looking at is pretty close to that. Also, my 04 injectors made it to 183k but others crashed long before. I told the wife today that we might have an additional $5k in repairs over the next few years or maybe months if we buy it.

We'll see. I need my big truck back really soon.

The 3rd gens bring really good money if they're really nice. I sold my '04.5 in Sep of 2013 for what I consider top dollar. I wasn't going to sell it for anything less than top dollar. It was too nice. It was garage kept, never driven in snow. It was absolutely immaculate. The under side was cleaner than many collector cars. I'm OCD. I never advertised it either. I just put the word out that I was thinking about selling it. I had a friend tell his friend about it. He had been looking for a 3rd gen for about 6 mos. I told him the price was $32K and as soon as I opened the garage and backed it out, it was a done deal. He never even drove it until we met at the bank. He never balked at the price. He knew what he was looking for, and he knew what was out there. If you have a low mileage, clean 3rd gen, you're in good shape. Heck, I had a wholesaler offer me $29K sight unseen.

A few pictures: Still on the original brakes, tires, and ball joints. The OEM shocks have been replaced with Bilsteins.
