Oo. im finishing the quarter mile at 3600 rpm ; at what point do the valves start to float, i am not sure! this is a stock valve train. thanks

Mine ran between 35 and 3600 on the dyno the other month. Not to mention all the abuse it has seen on the street. :D I had no signs at all of valve contact. However I would definitely look into a set of springs if you intend to frequent that RPM. If you had a cam you would definitely have been a good candidate for P/V contact

Oh yeh, there are other things to consider also that affect valve float. Such as drive pressures, boost pressures and the age

boost is around 60 psi. the year is 04, and 80k on the clock----i will put better springs in later, but for now i think its going to be just fine! what do you think?

What are you guys doing to get to 3600rpm to begin with? in 6th, 3000 is it, but that's more then gov. stopping things.

Would this Edge Hot juice pull to 3500rpm in other gears?

I think 3600 is about tops I wouldnt want to go any further than that on stock springs. Justin Williams had sone P/V contact with stock springs and a regrind. But the more important ? is, what was your ET/MPH?

What do you have to do to spin 3600rpm? My truck is on the governor at 3100rpm's.

yea right, your not turning 3100rpm at 116mph  speed limiter cuts in at 110---------im turning 115. 7 at 3600rpm!!! so i know you are turning more  ---you should be able to answer your own question----or you could have a 5 or 6 speed auto :-laf :-laf btw good time slips

I have a bd speed eleiminator that lets me pull past the speed governer, but as soon as it gets to 3100rpms the truck noses over.

ok that makes more sence, but what your saying is it defueling after 3100 right?

RCCox said:
It doesnt feel like defueling, it feels like like I am banging on a rev limiter(like in a gasser).

then how do you push over 3100rpm if the revs are limited to 3100?---is hesitating a better word?
