Has anyone started using this oil? Looks like New model DC engines are recommending this use of this oil.

Valvoline Premium Blue® Extreme Diesel Engine Oil

Hi-Performance Synthetic Engine Oil. The Premium Blue Advantage:

•Hi-Performance Synthetic Technology meets the most demanding requirements of modern EGR engines operating at elevated temperatures, higher soot and higher acid levels in the engine oil.

•Cummins approved for 5,000-mile oil drain extension, under normal duty, for 2007 engines.

•Superior synthetic basestocks provide faster, safe starts during freezing weather and enhanced thermal properties for hot weather operations.

•Unique formulation has demonstrated improved fuel economy over leading conventional oils.

•Reduced high temperature carbon buildup - both single and two-piece pistons - and ring/liner wear protection leads to improved oil consumption control.

Started using it when I bought my 04 and my wifes 05. 04 had 210,000 on it when it went MIA and my wifes has 120k on it . No issues and I change it every 5 to 7 thousand along with fuel filter. Used to buy it from Cummins because they were the cheepest but not anymore. Use Fleetguard filters.

I started using it @ 20,000mi. A little less engine noise. Started oil analysis at 35,000mi with 7,473mi of use. The TBN was 9. 9 and the calcium was 783. The last test has 5,000mi of use and the TBN is 8. 2 & calcium is 886. Samples taken on 10/22/10 and 8/22/11. Truck parked in the winter and is started 2 times a month untill all the road salt is washed away.

I use Extreme in the winter and the conventional CI4+ Classic in the summer. It was developed by Valvoline in partnership with Cummins and has the best additives available. I won't use anything else. In John Martin's TDR blind additive tests, it came out tops.
