Can you guys tell me what the difference between a 184 and a 205 injection pump is? I took my original pump off from a 1992 Dodge intercooled truck and it turns out to be a 184 from the factory. I ordered a 205 because that is what I was told was needed. Help!!!

Help ,

I need to know which sylonoids are what on my 90 cummins ,

I got them hooked up like think is correct looking at my 92 , but im not shure

I got smoke , but no fire , and im getting fuel to the injectors

im not sure if i dont have enough battery yet , just useing , old batts sitting in my shop

or if the timing is off since the engine was in a wreck and hid hard enough to break the ballancer and break thrust bearings , i replaced all the mains and new balancer

so which sylenoid is what on my pump ??? , or any ideas

if you got something to fax , do so 503-728-0363 this is my computer /fax line 24-7 if busy , im on line

Only difference in early and late pumps is the ksb solenoid. One, I think the 89 to 91, uses a wax motor and does not get power from the sensor until the truck warms up and then it stays that way the whole time it's running. The other (intercooled truck) only gets power to a solenoid when it's cold and shuts off when the truck warms up. I may have them backwards sombody will have to correct them but the ksb either way should not keep a truck from starting. I think you have other issues. All other stuff should be wired the same I believe.

Hope this helps a little anyway.

VE Injection Pump Question - 2

OK, today I installed the 205 on the truck and it's having some issues. It idles fine but it hesitates at the lower end and clears up at the top end. I'm not too sure about the timing, if I advanced it too far or not far enough. This pump had no timing mark on the pump to start with so I marked it before I unpinned it. Can anyone help? Thanks

DVolk-There is/ should be a blue wire going to the pump shut off solenoid. This is the only wire going to the pump solenoid on a 90, as you dont have the second wire like the IC trucks had. Black wire goes to the KSB.

On the pump wires there is the one on the sylenoid on top thefuel sylenoid

on the bottom the cold start .

I got a few other questions , what is the other throttel lever on the side of the pump for ? , an emergency shut down , aux, throttel what ? , my 92 dont seem to have it .

i can get it to start but still not getting no fuel pressure it seems ,

the injectors spurt some fuel , heres the weird thing the back injector just seems to let fuel just pour out , is my injectors bad or is my pump messsed up ?????

any body got ideas please e-mail me or call me thanks Donovan
