I researched before starting this thread because I know it's been visited many times before. My truck had been off the road for a while and just now I have put a hundred miles or so on it with its first tank of ULSD. Now I have pump leak in a spot that seems no one else has had. It's close to the top, dripping out of a rubber drain tube. It is a drip every couple seconds at idle and almost quits at about half-throttle. (see yellow arrow in pic) I really don't want to pull this pump. I just got to drive it after 6 weeks of tinkering with the trans and clutch. Besides, I'm getting tired of the OLD TRUCK remarks from my other half. :-{} What, if any, additives can I use?

Thanks.

That is the vent tube for the AFC. Your fuel pin o-ring is leaking. At most you have to take off the top of the pump.

Sweet! Thanks Pete! I'll look into it. I bought some Lucas fuel additive and put that in. I'm not sure if it's coincidence, but the drip has almost stopped after a half hour drive. I'll look around here and arm myself with some diagrams for that O-ring replacement.

Thanks!

You can do this with the pump on the truck, but I'd still take the pump off for insurance purposes.

And as far as "old truck" comments from the other half, it's just jealousy. Mine rides rougher, and had some wind noisearound the weather stripping, but will run circles around hers (04 Dakota) all day long, using just a hair more fuel in doing so. Plus, she has more in hers than I do mine by about 2x. Remind your other half of that fact, too, if she gets serious about it.

Howdy Daniel,

Thanks for the advice. Probably should pull and reseal the whole thing just for the experience.

About the comments, I agree :-laf . My truck has literally 1/10th the $ in it as her '03 Dak 4x4 and gets about 5 MPG better. Actually we went bowling last night and she said, "Want to take your truck?" I jumped at the deal and she was impressed. It was her first time riding in it. She did comment that it was hard to hear the radio over the Cummins. I reminded her that rattling is the real music! :D

So far the Lucas is holding the leak at bay, or I'm just lucky.

Almost a done-deal my man! It's in the box on my desk, just waiting for new speakers to be bought. :D

I'm dreading the install though. The AC switch/radio/ashtray all are loose and sit funny in the dash. I think I have some broken framework.
