I searched the forum and didn’t find anything on this so I’m going to create a mew post. This is for changing the slide pin o-ring on the ve pump on our first gen 12v 5.9’s.
This links to youtube ‘themadmailler’, if you search his videos you’ll find a great concise video of how to get to the slide pin inside the pump top.

this next one links to Decent Garage, great videos showing start to finish on removing pump top. You’ll have to search his videos.

The only thing he themadmailler doesn’t show is that after you pull the slide pin out and the 4.5mm retaining nut under the slide pin, there’s a brass retainer between the 4.5mm and the o-ring.
I couldn’t figure out where I went wrong and why I couldn’t find the o-ring. I called Eric at The Hungry Diesel and he walked me through getting to the o-ring.
Amazing guy, Eric, to call me back on a late Friday afternoon and help me out. He even called again a couple hours later to see how it went.
Anyway, after removing the slide pin, 4.5mm retainer, brass retainer, you pick up the pump top and bang it on your work bench, orientated so the opening where the slide pin was is pointing down. Bang it firmly on the bench and another retainer will eventually fall out. This retainer has the o-ring in it.
reassembly is just reverse of disassembly.
I hope this helps.
