Has anyone tried Verizon's Fiber Optics for cable TV and internet? I'm tired of dealing with the cable company in Delaware, and am looking for options. Verizon is expanding into our area, and am thinking of switching.

I've heard the satellite providers aren't the way to go as far as internet is concerned.

Thoughts?

TIA

Tom

My wife talked me into trying the all 3 deal, phone, cable, internet. The internet was crappy compared to Roadrunner. Turns out our area didn't have the new fiberoptic cable, we were stuck on the old wires! Tried to get out of it, found out we missed the deadline to cancel, had to pay $100 to break the contract. I don't listen to her bright ideas anymore.

Yep, the old wires is exactly what I need to get away from. Comcast won't replace them, and they've degraded to the point where it's hard to get a clean signal down them.

I'll have to check and see if Verizon has run the fiber optics line in our neighborhood or not. If they haven't then I guess it would be a mute point.

I have had the fios service(internet only)for almost a year and so far it has been flawless. I had DSL which wasn't bad but the Fios has been great. I got the bombed speed 15k down and 2k up. It screams compared to dsl speeds. I think in your area, they might even offer a 20/5 speed. But I have to say, with all the internet congestion these days, the 5/2 speed they offer will probably be fine.

I have the TV and Internet and really enjoy it. The internet has never gone down and their basic TV package is far and above what comcast offers around here. I'm very satisfied except for the buggy Motorola DVR that likes to freeze up occasionally.

Have fiber for phone, cable and internet. FIOS has been good so far, about 6 months. Good up and down speeds, reliable service and they matched Comcast on price, Comcast wasn't very good.

No they are not. The lag time is horrendous.

In some areas - you may not have a choice, though.

Wal-Mart is getting into the biz, though - and claiming $60/month - which isn't too bad.

My neighbor has it and he doesn't really like it - but out where we're at... the choices are limited to say the least.

I use EVDO which works OK...

I have had it for over a year, make sure when they install it they put the MUX in your house, they put it outside on all my neighbors houses, looks bad. The only problem I have had is the backup battery went out and it is not covered, it is like a small tractor battery, costs about $20 replace.

I have had FIOS for about 18 months and love it. We were with Comcast before and always had problems..... With Fios I think I have been down for less than 30 minutes total over the las 18 months. Best internet service I have had!

Im glad someone asked this question.

W have been using cable for about two years.

The local phone co. (ATT) recently upgraded to FIOS and we are scheduled to have the install done on Wednesday.

We re getting the internet and tv. If it works as well as they claim, then Dish and the cable co. have lost another customer.

As a foot note to the above post, after the install was complete, I contacted the respective previous providers.

The rep from Dish was less than cordial saying I was making a mistake by switching providers,

I told him, if they had the same offrering as I now have I wouldnt be switching.

Which Fios are you inquiring about?

From Verizon or ATT?

Iv got ATT.

PM me if your inquiring about the ATT Fios.

The plot thickens... I guess verizon and ATT are similar. I would have verizon. Have there been many battery issues, how big is the device that houses it, and is it at the entry point?

No battery issues at all here. What's good about verizon is the battery for the phone is 16 hours of "talk time", not time time :) So if it's on battery and you talk for only 4 mins, you still have "all" that time left.
