Hi,

I have a 99 with about 125 on it and I started to get a vibration from the front end when I hit the brakes, I pulled them and lubed all the slides and rotated the tires and checked the ball joints and wheel bearings and all were tight

took it for a ride now I have a vibration that I can feel just going down the road, at slow speeds I hit the brakes or coast the steering wheel will rock back and forth

I am wondering if I need shocks or a steering stabilizer anyone have this issue before, I should mention the track bar was replaced about 4000 miles ago

any help would be great appreciated,

Thanks,

Hi all,

well just changed the front shocks and still no change, going to change the steering stabilizer this week and see what that gives me

still have no ideas as there is no movement in anything in the front end

Regards,

Shocks and stabilizer will have no effect on slow speed vibration. You probably have a bad tire if your getting a vibration without touching the brake. Like stated above, if your rotor is the problebe, it must be severely warped. Don't forget to check your hubs and u-joints. Good luck.

Are you running BFG at's or mt's? they are known for internally separating.

Also what condition is the steering in? Box brace? trackbar (yes replaced but with what)? ball joints? unit bearings?

Hi all,

Well ended up being warped rotors, what a difference that made and another member let me in on the trick to getting the wheel bearings out with the PS way cool trick big time and knuckle savor

I'm running 315 Cooper ST's I have had 5 sets on my gas truck and usually got about 50,000 out of them this is the first set for this diesel so will see but seem to be wearing well even though the rims on a 99 are much narrower than a 01

Thanks again,

U-Joint!!!

The number one characteristic of a U-Joint going... . on ANY vehicle... is that vibration that you just can't pin point... . and it seems to be brakes... . but isn't

(Betcha gotta dry one. )

Just did rotors on my 99 last weekend. Gotta love knocking out and back in 16 lug nuts not to mention having to remove the bearing assy just to change rotors.
