These trucks make lots of torque. My old 03 Dodge made only 555 on the torque side, yet I still managed to bend a driveshaft. It had a heck of a vibration at highway speeds and eventually cracked the tail shaft of the 48re. Took the truck to a drive train shop in Boise and learned that the driveshaft was .045 out of round. They straighten the driveshaft and the vibration went away.

I haven't checked the drive shaft yet since the vibration analyzer was pointing to other things. But we are running out of things to check without digging into the transmission itself. I was hoping to hear someone come forward with their issue since i drove two new ones off the lot that did the same thing. I can't be the only one with this problem.

Your not the only one...

If you look into the new trucks just comming out, they now have a frame mounted vibration control system. I ca t remember the exact terminology that they call it...but it was talked about in the video I watched with fast lane trucks and a Ram engineer.

So Ram can't fix the problem so they added this deal

I know this is goona sound Bizarre, I changed gear lube and it seems to be gone, When I put the PML cover on back in 2013, I install Temp sensor, The Temp sensor broke (Something hit it) I decided just to change out the lube/sensor it had Schaeffer's 80/90 and had 38K miles look new when draining. Switch it to Castrol Syntrac Limited Slip 75/90w.

Its been really cold here so when I took it for a drive I only had enough time to run it up to 85MPH for a short time, the Speed Limit around here is 70...

When I go back to the Cabin next Month in MT the speeds will increase in ND/MT and I will have better results then , the truck just goona sit and be occasionally driven around the block until then.

The weather has just not cooperated to take truck to Hwy Speeds above 75. I am going back to the Cabin in West Yellowstone at the end of the month, So I will report back if the Lube cure the problem, I've made some calls to experts on gear box vibrations and all commented that certain lubes will cause vibrations.

Back in 2013 I really inspected My R&P and bearings they all checked out, When I dropped my Schaeffer's lube it look new, I sent sample out (2018) and it had No wear materials...Schaeffer gear lube has been used by another company I partially own and records show over the last 10 Years we have Double our pumps live using it over other lubes.
The vib starts above 70 MPH and gets worse at higher speeds, Schaeffer's Lube has NO friction modifiers, Castrol is loaded with the Friction modifiers.

Check out the spec in both lubes. remember the 80/90 I use was form 2008 and did NOT have the same additives as the spec sheet, but it was the lube in 2008 spec out for AMM 11.5 lube.

Over on the cummins forum there are huge numbers of posts on this issue. Every part known to man have been swapped out by one member or another. Nothing has fleshed out to be the common denominator. Many have had factory engineers involved to no avail.
I do wondrr if the new vibration dampners on the ‘19’s could be retrofitted to previous year trucks. Pretty obvious the addition of dampners is rams answer to a problem they have heretofore written off as “operating as designed” BS.

I had only put the centramatics on the front when I switched to the 19.5's, I installed the rear centramatics last week and the vibration is gone. I am still perplexed that the stock 17's ran smooth on the 2015 and the 19.5's ran smooth on the 2001.5 (did not run centramatics on the rear on the 2001.5). but the 19.5's were terrible above 65 on the 2015. With the centramatics I ran up to 90mph with no vibration. I dont drive the truck that fast normally, just wanted to see if I ran into vibration again at high speed.

I'll be curious to find out your results. Please post when you get them.

I still believe it's a lack of precision parts and quality control. As I mentioned in the previous post the axles, rotors, hubs, and wheels and tires have been replaced. When I checked them with a micrometer they were all out of factory spec except the wheels. The ride did improve. I plan on digging back in in three weeks to see if the new parts are good. My biggest issue is I love this truck. I'm my own worst enemy.

After my next dig into the truck and If I can't find a specific spot then I'll try the Centramatic.

I mean, no offense, could it be that you are a bit hypersensitive to vibrations?
If i read micrometer in one sentence with Truck, that doesn't go together, this isn't rocket science - its a truck.
And a Truck will never be as smooth as a porsch or an audi.

Sure it shouldn't shake the fillongs out of teeth....

No offence taken, the dealer asked me the same question. That is not the case since I own several heavy duty trucks and I can drive them at highway speeds with no shimmy or vibration. Case in point, I have an 05 Ram 3500 Diesel 4x4 quadcab short bed since new. It has 298000 miles on it and rides smooth other than the stiff suspension. No vibrations. I also own a 2017 Ford F350 4x4 crew cab dually diesel. Same thing, no vibrations.

Try using a GoPro or knock off to mount and look at different components of the truck as you drive it. Maybe you can find which component is the problem. Then troubleshoot from there.

I’m going with bad quality control, and bad NVH engineering. I’m NOT A FORD GUY! But that’s what I’ve been working on a lot since ‘85, and I’ve always seen various weights and dampers and slugs on brackets in Fords forever. I just don’t see that stuff on Mopars. Add the crappy outsourcing of components, and we have a bad cocktail.
This is a good thread. Staying tuned.

OK.. the results of changed lube.... No Vib 0-65, slight vib 66-76 , the Vib is still there at 77-87 and by the time you hit 90+ its gone.... All MPH.

Thank you for sharing those results. Sadly, much of my driving is at 70 mph which is peak vibration.

The weather just has NOT cooperated in finding My vib, Between snow storms and plowing, Now we are removing it form roof tops and the cold weather has Pumps leaking from the Forests of Northern MN to the roadways of S TX, and when the snow is gone we will be Back to Construction,Farm and Race season.

I was planning on Spending the $$$$ for the Vib/sound Equipment to find the cause, But I cannot change time.

My Vib is livable so I will....I am dedicated to fining what is causing it , it May be exhaust related. Who knows....

The truck just sits this time of year, I have other trucks none of them have this vib, But this Truck is My truck , The others I use employee's have partial ownership and the others don't have the Goodies like this one.......

I even been Plowing for a friend that I use his Fords... NO thanks So far this Season the F-350 had New TC and front and rear Drives, and its gas and drinks gas like a fish in Water Some jobs I was Avg 4-5GPH gas. and its under powered and does push snow like the Diesels ... Yes I used his 6.7 Diesel, its OK and better than Gas but its No Cummins and drinks fuel like gas...
