I'll presume that "replaced by DaimlerChrysler" means that DC paid for it? As in under warranty?

Absolutely—all $2643. 67 of it! Gotta love that Cummins Diesel Engine Limited Warranty.

104,xxx, stock fuel system, stock pressure. unless my comp is on 5x5, even 4x5 wont draw below 7-9 lbs. though those numbers alone make me weary.

kids cant afford injection pumps... . :{

So have DC pay for it, like Thomas did on his 2000 with 130k miles (presuming your 2002 warranty booklet looks anything like Thomas's).

Though you've probably voided whatever warranty you had left with your "my comp" statement.

Bob, Did you follow up on those pumps? What was the biggest cause of failure... mechanical or electrical?

My started have hard starting last fall in the hot SW weather, Last month I had two cases of dead pedal and a 216 code at 52K. Used MWFI and truck is running good again. SNOKING

original vp-44 at 443,800kms or 275764 k. have gauges since new and use mmo,plus howes meaner in every tank. now on 4th. lift pump,relocated to frame after 3 rd. pump.

replaced mine today. truck still ran with the original vp 44 @ 135,975 miles. at first i was getting the 0121,0122 codes, dead pedal, poor mileage. . then all of a sudden the p0216 code showed up. funny thing was the 0121 and 0122 codes went away 2 weeks before the 0216 code showed up. oh well, iam almost glad it happened. from what ive read the updated pumps really hold up well.
