I have an 02 with an Edge EZ and recently had problems with engine surge at highway speeds with cruise set and occcasionally had knocking sound similar to preignition in a gasser but had no check engine light codes. took to dealer they warrantied the vp44 and Lift pump which is mandatory on a vp44 failure of any kind. They Know at the dealership that I run the EZ and they never questioned it. They said that it was a timing controller failure within the vp44 My question is has anyone else had this problem and since the EZ is a timing duration box could this be what caused the pump failure. I have about 10k miles on reman pump with no issues yet and am close to end of warranty. dealer probably would not cover it again.

Any feedback or similar problems from anyone else.

Agree with Rusty. Your dealer probably does too. If your dealer thought in may have caused the failure then they probably wouldn't have warrantied it.

I have a stroke of luck at the dealer they have 2 Technicians who are both friends of mine and the one who worked on it and gave me a free pass and didn't document that it had an EZ said it normally would not have been covered.

Having good friends can be very helpfull.

It also had loss of throttle response during hot weather operation as a symptom of this they suspected throttle position sensor but all checked out ok with diagnostic tool but was resolved with pump r&r.
