Put the vulcan big line kit on my truck last weekend and could not be happier. Before the kit my comp on 5x5 will take pressure from 14 to as low as you want in seconds. Now wot will go from 14 to around 11. With the box off Barely any loss at WOT. couldn't be happier for the price.

Good to hear , ordered mine today along with a new fp gauge to accompany my low pressure light. Oh and my new lp too. . Ill Be busy this weekend :-laf :-laf

Where did you 2 guys get the kit from I am looking at doing this geno's has the vulcan relocation kit doent come with pump though let me know thanks

I put my kit on three weeks ago along with my fuel pressure gauge. Cant drop pressure below 11psi. I tried to reuse my old lift pump until I realized it was leaking and probably ready to go out. New lift pump from cummins w/6 month warranty $165 and vulcan kit $109.

I called eric and got the whole kit. It relocates the existing pump on the frame rail and uses AN fittings and 1/2" ID line All the way to the pump. My pump seemed to be ok so i reused it. The kit would also make changing the lift pump(now a pusher pump) a breeze. If anyone is still using westach's electric sending unit on the schader valve i just went to the hardware store and bought a 1/4 " hose barb and cut the end off of the 18" rubber hose i had attached to the schader valve(which is replaced with the AN fitting). Done. Just remember to close the vavle on the bottom of the fuel canister before trying to prime to lines or you will see how high flow it is.

vulcan big line

I installed kit about four weeks ago, 15 at idle 14 at wot, stock eng. i should have done this a few years ago. eng. runs so must better when pulling 9,000#camper. I did put it throw a test going over mississippi river bridge in la. this was in o/d at 70mph, fuel psi came down to 13 psi. i had problem before pulling over that same bridge in o/d, allway had to down shift trans. just more fuel going to vp/44 pump

I accidentally did mine with a full tank of fuel. We lost over 3 gallons of diesel on the ground, on our clothes, and on our tools. We could not get a pipe cutter twister thing around the whole pipe so it just leaked for hours while me and my dad just snapped the damn cable off with tin snips and filed the burr off afterwards.

did mine two weeks ago, same results as the others, stock pump 15 psi at idle, 11 at wot. greatest $129. 99 I ever spent.

Install hint, do it when your tank is 1/2 full or less, pull the line off of the lift pump and blow the fuel back into the tank with the gas (fuel) cap off, this way you won't dump a bunch of fuel in your eye balls. also, do yourself a favor and by a little close quarters pipe cutter from Home Depot or Lowes for around $7 for cutting the fuel line back near the tank. when priming the system back up, crack the line at the VP44 a little and bump the starter and you can hear the pump working and the fuel will work it's way back up throught the system.

I would like to run one of these, but have a question about underbody spray, mostly snow/slush. I plow with my truck, and am unsure of how a relocated pump might hold up. Often when plowing, snow and ice build up around the brakes, t-case, and transmission bottom, where the warm parts melt snow that sticks on when driving through deep snow. I also travel gravel roads about 25% of the time I drive in the summer, and worry about rocks kicking up. I know these kits haven't been out long, but if anyone has any insight as to durability/longevity under these conditions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Matt

Just towed with mine for the first time. WOT, 24 psi boost and 12. 5 psi fuel pressure

Next week I'l go up the Grapevine North bound and return 5 days later. That will be the real test.

So the kit includes the wiring harness to get the pump to the frame, or is that something you have to do yourself?

Nate, the kit comes with the wiring necessary, nylon ties, fittings, sealing washers, hose, hose clamps, and the mounting bracket for the frame mount, as well as a very good set of instructions. You'll be quite pleased dealing with Eric at Vulcan. I did mine a couple weeks ago. Took about an hour and a half.

Got mine yesterday in the mail too. Am I suppose to use a teflon tape on those fittings? I can't believe the fittings without any sealant won't leak, but I'm not sure. Also over already installed fittings, aren't we suppose to put hose clamps, or this type of blue hose is special, so does not require any? Thanks.

Matt, I fashioned a three sided protective box from heating duct metal that slips between the frame rail and the pump bracket with a little encouragement but is easily removed if necessary.

The fittings that have a "flare" are JIC- a 37* flare that does the sealing. Do not use sealant, they must be clean and dry, they can also be over tightened. As for the "installed fittings", Ive seen the picture, but not having actualy looked at those yet I'd have to guess they are simialr to other fuel hose fittings- or any low pressure hydraulic fitting for that matter- Ive seen and dont need a hose clamp.

Still need to get my kit, but from appearance and testimony this kit is ready to install out of the box.....

Just finished mine and am real happy with the it and installation. Only problem I had was routing the line between fuel filter and VP so it was not over the Power steering fill cap. Other than that it was a piece of cake. My fuel pressure before the kit installation with OEM pump was very erratic usually arouund 15 idle and 13 WOT. I nstalled this pump last July 4 but of late it woudl drop to 9 PSI even 6 PSI cruise. Then go back up to 13 cruise. Not sure the reloction will cure this may still need to install another pump.

ILIANBG, no teflon tape required and no additional hose clamps on the pre-installed fittings. I used two clamps on the 3/8" hose from the stock line near the tank to the pump, one on the inlet side and one on the outlet side of the pump, and one on inlet side of the filter. the hose from the filter to the VP44 was too long so I shortened it so it would not kink, just cut the hose off the fuel pressure tap fitting, shorten to length, and push back on, no clamps needed. you could probably play tug-o-war with that section with very little problem, remember, it's only 15 psi. good luck, and if you need help, don't hesitate to call Eric, he's more than happy to help.
