Feeling inspired yet?

Nice 4 door Dale.

I have to ask. How did you get those mirrors to mount? While still having a wing window?

I am just being intremitedo. Spanish for nosey.

I still love those old crews. Here are some more: Shad

BSchwarzli any updates?

Yes, I have started tinkering again with the truck. Did not get as much done on my holidays as I hoped as I have been working on an old Chrysler as a winter beater so I dont have to expose the 1990 to the salt... . But now that it is done it is time to focus on the crew! Oo.

So I am one day back into it. Machined are the spacers for the box. The crew got a 1" body lift due to trans clearance issues. I am now prepping for box removal and finishing up the wiring harnesses and air lines to go in. This will hopefully be the last time I will remove the box. The main reason is to install the 5th wheel hitch. My big key here will be catching someone to help me remove the box! :D

Eric,

Boy you area trouble maker arent you! I am not sure to say thank you or call you names! :D :-laf

Thanks for the inspiration. It was needed. :)

Now, to get some pics uploaded... .

Not as cleanly as I would have liked... . I really need to redo the mounts, but since they work I just never find the time.

I used the 3rd gen mirrors since they had a power option that I don't think the 2nd gen version had (I think second gen door mounts are cleaner than the 3rd gen though for this). Mounting was pretty easy, they have 3 studs, two of which go through the door skin under the window and one which bolts through a brace I welded across the wing window corner. The windows would open all the way if they didn't hit the tweeters I mounted on the inside, not my best move. the trick is to place the brace on the front of the wing windw where the glass swings inside the door.

End of hijack... .....

Well, lets get this thread back on topic..... the 1990 is all repaired from any small issues, friends vehicles are working, parents, siblings, grandparents, long lost relatives, and people I dont knows vehicles are now fixed... ... . ;)

So, I have been back to working on the crew. Box is back off, wiring going in (hence all the other posts wiring related), and airlines on the back half are redone to my current specs (did not like the way I did them years ago).

Yes, pics will follows after the weekend is done and have them all collected and uploaded. :)

OK Mr patient... . :D

Started with fixing the airlines I did not like. Was at a 90 deg before. Now there is an elbow:

Then got the 5er hitch in (after two trips to town to get bolts... . ;))

Started fabbing in the filler necks. The rear is custom made. The elbow is an old rad hose. If it matches up, it will get a new rad hose of the same PN so it does not leak:

Next, air lines. This is my distribution block:

Fuel doors are also now in, aligned and mounted:

Another haunting item from my younger days. I dont like this. This is not going to stay. That is electrical putty holding that all in. ;) Anyone have a connector they want to sell me so this can be done right? I was a lot dumber in my younger days... . I know this as I can see the things I have to redo on the truck now... . :D

Nice, nice... . thanks, I feel better..... now whatcha gonna do to it?!? :D

Oh, and I noticed the radiator hose for the fuel filler neck..... I've done that, myself installing steel beds, and it works good, BUT..... do you know what diesel will do to that radiator hose in a few months? Just a suggestion, but you might want to look at some filler hose with the chemical barrier... Orielly's carries this: List: Fuel Filler Hose - Universal | O'Reilly Auto Parts I'd hate for your awesome truck to have a diesel drip covering the tailgate!!!!

As for the fuel canister... I've got two for a '92. One I can't use, as my '85 is a shortbed, and has the funky POS small tank #@$%!..... I'm not sure what shape it's in..... the other, same story, the truck is sitting on blocks at the rear of the frame, sans motor, transmission, dash, rear end..... you get the idea... . not sure what shape it's in, either..... but if you can't find a better option, I might actually be able to help on this one!

I very much appreciate that. I was figuring as diesel was not corrosive like gasoline I would be ok with a rad hose... . guess not! Point taken. I will get a correct one. Good call there sir. More appreciate than you know.

Connector. If memory serves, as of 91. 5 the tanks changed to a flat inline connector from the 80s style round one like I need. That being the case I am not sure you will have what I need. :(

Lookin good!!! Glad to see some progress here!

I'd hate to put you any further behind, but have you considered using the new hydraulic body mounts for the cab? I've like to give it a try when time/funds become available...

Keep the momentum going... and don't stop till this thing is on the road! :)
