Waitin' for the Big Dodge

Boys, I went down to the dealer to order me a big ole 2500 H. O. LWB QC 4x4 today, and they told me they were having trouble ordering, a hold or something with the six-speeds. Does anybody know what's happenin? He said it could be 10-12 weeks before I saw one, and it sounded like they were in such demand that the price was going to be hard to come off of. The thing that suprised me was that he even suggested I may try to check other dealerships, cause even if he found one they wouldn't want to part with it to him. So am I really looking at 12+ here? I mean he said he could order one Monday if I wanted. I've heard the dealer was a good one, and I don't think they're giving me a bunch of BS,... maybe, I don't know. If I gotta wait though, I gotta wait. Not gonna go down the chevy path for that IFS junk, it leaves something to be desired.

A gentleman that I worked for 25 years ago taught me that "if it is not exactly what you wanted, it is not a good deal no matter what you paid for it". Call my dealer @ 1 800 Bossier and see if he has what you are looking for. Also, get him to spec the truck you want and he will fax you the invoice. Then you will know if someone is blowing smoke. Ask for Johnny Bennett, tell him I sent you. LOL

My friend ordered his truck on December 7th, 2500 4wd with ETH and Six speed. His truck is being built in St Louis also and it went into build status on Jan 5th and is supposed to go into delivery on Jan 17th, sounds like he got lucky maybe. Or a dealer is blowing some smoke trying to get you to buy a truck off their lot.

The model year change could be taking place. Don't know if that's a good thing or not.

UKRugbyman77... Order what YOU want. Mine went on restriction for the 6 speed and DRW's as soon as the order was received by DC. I ordered my truck in early August and received same in early October, well worth the wait to get what I wanted. I don't think you'll be disappointed, even if the wait is long.

I agree, order exactly what you want, unless you get lucky and find exactly what you want.
I was willing to pay $300 over invoice in order to give the business to a local dealer, the one I would use for service. But, if he "can't come off much", then you need to go down the road (or on the net) because some will sell for under invoice. If he is really a good dealer, he will still service your truck correctly and be fair about warranty issues if the time comes - you just won't get the extras like a loaner car. My guess is that he is a smaller dealer, has no trouble selling his alotment of trucks, and there will be no hard feelings if you buy down the road. Besides, that is what he told you to do.

And you all are right on ordering - if you're going to spend that much money, get WHAT YOU WANT. I settled for less on my last pickup, and while it wasn't new (got it in high school) I still was a little mad at myself for the six year ride.

Yes order that baby like you want it. If youu havent already pulled the trigger. There is a a place here in Atlanta that will order it for invoice. It may be closer. Maybe they are going into invoice at OK for you. The Internet has made it real easy to cut the BS out of ordering a Vehicle because everyone knows the prices.
The cool thing about ordering is it will say on the window tag "Built especially for Your name here. Get that Bad Mama Jama 6 speed manual and you will love it. I rented a Dozer in La the other Day and their cute little receptionist told me it weighed 16,000 well she was mistaken it weighed 28,000 lbs and that HO pulled it with authority. Man i love this truck. I would suggest if you dont have kids or such consider that Reg cab. It'll cost you 3,000 more I think I think to get the extended cab.
