I would think that there tanks are below ground, so they can not freeze as they are below the frost line.

Agreed, or at least it has been addressed in some manner. It would seem that people in the industry, would think of these things and plan accordingly. It's not like TDR members are the only ones that know that DEF freezes and needs to be clean.

I've run Pilot/Flying J DEF from the pump as well as Peak Blue DEF from the jugs with no problem whatsoever. Due to the liabilities they would incur from selling contaminated fuel or DEF in the volumes that they do, Pilot/Flying J has an inherent interest to guarantee purity of their products. That notwithstanding, I save my receipts should I ever have a problem.

I look at using a DEF pump at Seven Feathers Casino in Southern Oregon last spring, it was hasty looking with white crystals all over the end, so I pasted on it. Bought another Peak Blue DEF at WM up the road. That is all I have used in 17 months.

SNOKING

Any DEF left on the end of a nozzle will crystallize as the distilled water evaporates. It's the product coming through the nozzle that's important.

I think that goes unsaid, but I think his point was what comes off the end of the nozzle that may end up in the DEF tank.

I have no idea what will contaminate the system, but I sure like the idea of being able to see whats coming out of those plastic jugs. To each his own

It's simple. Wipe the end of the nozzle off. There are paper towels right there at the pump. If a crystal of urea did get into the tank, it would redissolve.

and for the second time today, I say "agreed".

It would take a whole lot of crystals, to make the DEF concentration go up enough to be a problem.

Much ado about nothing.......but, to each his own (paranoia) :-laf

So I added a 2 1/2 gal container of DEF today.... it was the Tech product from Walmart and when I was getting ready to toss the blue jug... I noticed a sticker on the back of the jug.... 12/10/2016 and a production #.... This is the first container I've noticed that was date coded.. I've seen it on the other major brands but this is the first I've noticed on the Wal Mart house brand... so the next time I'm in the store I'll look to see if I can find another container with a date code...

However I'm guessing I'm a month away from a purchase so I'll hold off on that...

Was it the WM sticker with bar code and price? That is the sticker they add. The date of manufacture might be different. Snoking

nope.. it wasn't from what I could tell a WalMart sticker.... for two reasons... it was placed on the rear of the container in a spot where it didn't cover any of the existing text... and it was square to the package... I can't imagine an employee attaching a sticker paying attention to where it went and how it was placed... I just assume it was placed there by a machine on the production line.... of course I don't know that for a fact...

This def issue has been on my mind for a while now. Why don't we get together and voice our o0pinion to the feds to regulate the price of def seeing it is the gov s idea.I have seen prices from 5 to 17 bucks . I am tired of being told what to do at my expence. Ski

And you think the car dealers sell engine oil and the same price as Jiffy Lube and Autozone? The issue is dealers "claiming" that you must us their product, so they do not have to compete on price. Snoking

You want the government to regulate the costs of products?

I spend about $8 to $15 every few months on DEF. This is like # 1,368 on my list of budgetary concerns. In fact, its not even on my radar.

Just remember, " if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your ins.plan you can keep it". Yeah, that's what I want, more govt intervention.
