Maybe yall can help me? I am looking to change my 5SPD to a 6SPD but is it worth it to change? I will be adding some power to my truck which is an 02, 4wd, 5SPD, so I already have to change the clutch, maybe the input shaft, would it be worth it to go to the 6SPD or stay with the five, and who would be the vendor you would recommend for the 6SPD?

I was going to have Chrysler change my 99 to a 6 sp the last time that the 5 sp went out. It would have cost me over $2000. 00 to do. The 6sp is longer I guess. So that means that you would have to have your rear drive shaft shortened, and your front drive shaft lengthened. And I believe that you would have to have the trans. mount moved to accomidate the 6 sp. I cannot remember if there was anything internal that is affected or not. (ie. the clutch or pilot shaft) . Sorry that I cannot help anymore than that.

I checked out a site that had the conversion kits, about $4500, cross member, southbend clutch and all. The web site is http://www.quad4x4.com/NV5600.htm if anyone is interested, it was given to me by a TDR member. I just dont know if it is worth changing, I had a 6spd in my last truck and I did not mind shifting, it was comfortable. Never had problems towing either. I havent really pulled that much with this one, the 02, I am sure I would have no problems with this for now, just when?

Maybe aquire the parts to do it over time and run your five speed for a while. Remember, you can always find an NV-5600 in a junkyard or on ebay. Then once the swap is done you can sell your NV-4500 to recoup some of the money for the swap. I am sure you can do the swap for much less than $4500. Just be patient and keep your eyes peeled for the deals.
