I did not have to tap mine. The threads went all the way down the hole.



I just used one of the stock head bolts to chase all the threads before I installed all the studs.

Using the stock bolts to chase the threads can be a problem,because the studs are way longer than the stock head bolts. Some of the bolt holes are not tapped all the way to the bottom. When I redid my head and installed studs I had to actually had to finish tapping some bolt holes another half inch. If your studs protrude more than a half inch above the nut when every thing is assembled, you dont have the bolt hole tapped enough.

When I said "chase all the holes with a stock head bolt" I took a phillips screw driver and checked the depth of every hole in the block. Then compared the depth of the hole to how far I could screw in a stud and head bolt.

I did not have to tap any holes. They went in fine and there was no clearance problems. The truck runs fine.
