Warrenty Problems w/ Guages?

Has anyone who has installed the gauges (EGT,Trany, Boost) had any problems with dealer warranting the truck? I have the extended warranty and so not want to pay to fix rig if something goes wrong just cause gauges are installed. I have all three just haven't tapped the exhaust manifold to hook up EGT sensor. The boost and Trany are simple bolt ons and don't think that they would be hard to fight. Just curious.

same question!

can't believe I tripped across this thread! I have the exact same question (although I have not spent the cash on the gauges [I'm wanting to do egt, fuel, and boost] because of wanting to have this question answered!).

anxiously awaiting someones greater knowledge/experience.

Can't make you a guarantee, but I don't think any dealer is going to say anything about the mods you are doing. . Now, if the manifold was to crack where you drilled it (not likely) they might say it's your fault, but adding gauges is not going to trip their "reset" button... Have fun... :)

It depends what dealer it seems like. Some will use anything to void your warrenty. In my own dealer trips I have been fine. I also have a dealer that turns a blind eye to my performance chips Oo. Guess I got lucky :D

Gauges becomes a kind of red flag to look for traces of a box.

Again I state "most waranties aren't worth the paper their written on"

I have had gauges(pyro is pre-turbo), AFE Stage II Air Intake, and Banks Monster Exhaust, BFG 315s, Rancho shocks/stabilizer and 2" leveling kit for a while.

The Service Manager reprogrammed for the bigger tires without charge.

The dealer noted all of the mods on there local database when I had the truck in for smoke, overhead mileage TSB. They did the TSB under warranty no questions asked.

I had #6 injector replaced under warranty, dealer had to work with Star to accomplish the diagnostics and get replacement injector ordered. I do not think the dealer mentioned anything about mods to Star.

I had a serious Death Wobble incident that bent both stabilizer bar link rods. This was a combination of tire pressure, leveling kit and shock adjustments. When I asked them to replace the link rods they said they could not do it under warranty because of leveling kit and tires. I agreed that the mods caused the problem. I paid for the work without any arguments.

I guess that it depends on the dealer service manager as to how mods will be viewed when warranty work is necessary. I am satisified that my dealer service department will do everything they can to complete repairs under warranty. Bottom line is if you mod and play, you may have to pay.

I had good results with my extended warranty . I purchased another Chrysler extened warranty for my 05 as well. If I didn't have a warranty when i had transmission failures with my 99 i probably would have been screwed .

Who knows what the repair charge would have been.

Dave, I looked it up for you.

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not void a vehicle-manufacturer's original warranty. There are certain conditions where the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act does not cover you. One is if the warranty clearly states that the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle's warranty. The other is if the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure you are getting repaired. To find out if adding aftermarket accessories will void you warranty look in your owner's manual or ask the dealership.

Also did a search on TDR.

Warranty Issues

Also found this. More Info

See you at work.

Well I am viewing my dealer more favorably after reading this. I have the 315's and level kit and my DW was warranteed for both ball joints, track bar, etc.....
