washed truck ,now the backup camera shows a green screen. Must have got water in somewhere, is the camera covered under the Maxcare extended warranty?

I suspect Terry is right water or soap got in there somehow. I know it seems half the time I wash my truck my truck suddenly thinks I am pulling a trailer even if i am not which I am not normally pulling a trailer when I wash the truck. Usually with the next restart it goes away. In any case to answer your actual question I do believe the maxcare warranty would cover the camera.

Another weird thing when power washing my truck, if I spray the the mirrors or other things it flashes its lights as though it likes the feel of the water ! I could never figure out was that was.

Electronics and electrical things DONT like water I think. I would love to go to the car wash and wash under the hood but I’m scared I will get water gremlins and have issues

Terry,..

Under the hood on all my cars I have used Meguires Quick Detailer and a microfiber towel to spritz and wipe things down.. Keeps the plastics clean and nice and gets the dust off... Usually I hit everything up before (or while) I'm checking all the fluid levels, I've been doing it on all my cars every service (so about once a year) and they still look like new decades later.

I found a new generic camera on ebay for around $50 bucks. Came in and the picture was compressed & distorted. Sent it back & bought an OEM back up camera for around $100 on ebay and it worked perfect. On mine, it was not possible to take the camera lens off & clean it. It was all sealed. I just checked, and it looks like they're a little higher priced now. IF it's not covered on your maxcare warranty.

For cleaning under the hood, try a garden pressure sprayer. Can direct the water where you want it and not all over! Plus the garden sprayer has less pressure then a hose does, just a smaller area. Also saw a car wash place the other day putting tire shine on tires with one with a sponge type wand on the end. That was a "slick" way to apply it. No to try and find a sponge wand to adapt to sprayer.

Is the key fob in your pocket? On my vehicles with keyless entry if the FOB is in my pocket and water touches the door handles it thinks someone is touching it, put the FOB in the garage and doesn't happen.

Once the camera dries out, take some RTV Silicone Sealer, and seal every area around the camera water could enter. Even areas you wouldn't suspect. Water creeps and travels. Wipe off every bit of excess, and you won't be able to tell you put silicone all around it.
