Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) washing your truck w/BHAF

Is there any problem with water getting under the hood onto the BHAF when you wash your truck or in rain storms?

I am thinking of getting one but was wondering about the water situation on an open filter. Thanks.

What you will want to do to wash your engine with a BHAF is wrap it in a good trash bag to keep the water off of it.



NOW make sure and remove the trash bag before restarting the truck.



We have had a couple of members that forgot, until after the engine fired!:-laf If you do a search you might even find the pictures of the trashed BHAF.

I take the BHAF off, then point the rubber intake house down. Works pretty good, nad takes less time.

I never gave it too much thought. I just wash it as it is.

I drive it in the rain too.

I have the Outerwear's pre-filter on mine, and never gave it much thought when I wash it... Last weekend, we drove through a torrential downpour on the way to the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza(the area we drove through got 5"-6" of rain) and the filter is fine. . I do have a heat shield which I'm sure helps to protect it, but after driving through the above mentioned rainstorm with no problems, I'm not going to worry about it anymore.
