Water in Fuel

I have read so many different opinions/ stories on when/if this has ever happened to a diesel owner's truck. My truck is a 2017 Ram 3500 Diesel Dually so I only have 6,000 miles on it thus far. Was wondering if any of you guys out there have ever had any issues with water in your diesel fuel (fuel/water separator) and if so, how often? Any input would be appreciated.

Addendum: diesel owners have told me that they personally have never had to drain the water from the separator. Others have said they do it weekly. Very confusing.

It is proactive to drain a small amount out of the seperator every few tanks. I've actually read in the service manuals in both the GRT 8100 (6.7 Cummins) and RT9150 (8.3 Cummins) i operate to drain the seperator every 20 hours. These fuel systems are much more robust than what's used in our pickups. Principle being drain off any potential water that may collect and possibly overcome the fuel water seperator and pass through the fuel system.
That being said, I'm guilty of not draining periodically, however the majority of fuel I burn up is through my tank at home, it passes through 2 fuel water seperators the final being a filter that will completely plug off and block all flow if water is introduced to it.

Appreciate the advice.....I did drain the separator once early on in the life of my truck just to "practice" so that if I ever had to do it on the road, I would not be mystified. Thanks.
