6 am I am in hartwell Georga ready to hit the road started the truck and shreaded the belt. Dead in the water in hook the 5th call the hook two hrs later dealer says can"t do it for at least one week. with the help of the tow truck driver ended up in Anderson south sc. fixed in 3 hrs. Still no parts from dodge. Had to replace it with the same kind from another dodge dealer. to the tune of $ 866.00 thank you dodge. Contacted the recall center and no answer yet. And the new pump still has to be replaced because of the recall No auto parts store in town had a replacement they are not restocking because of the recall.

Your signature truck, the 2005, is not subject to the recall.

Since you are posting in the 4th gen section, guessing that you are also running a more current MY ??

His previous posts show a 2014. I'm sure he's heading home about now.

I am really concerned about this issue! I drive 300 miles round trip, over two mountain passes, 5-6 times a month. Having the water pump under recall, without a fix is total BS! I've had a Cummins since 2002 and I can't recall any BS of this nature before.

Every time I start up the first Pass, I can't help but think that Ive got a ticking time bomb under my hood. GET A FIX FCA!!!

I carry a spare water pump and belt under the back seat. Cheap insurance and you could actually change them on the side of the road if you had to.

Like I said the dealer in Anderson SC only had one on the shelf left. All the auto parts stores were out they did not restock because of the recall so I was stuck with 0em How long will it last ???????

If my truck want still under warranty (2016 2500 /13k miles) I would install an AC Delco water pump, p/n 292920... It has a cast impellor, not a plastic one, like the Mopar and many others. Less than $80...

Whether the impeller is made from plastic or metal is MUCH less important then the quality of the bearings and seals that the manufactuer uses.

Or you could get the updated CUMMINS pump for under $50 from Genos .

Just replace it and quit worrying about it. They will reimburse you if you say it failed.
