Actually, Mike Crossley did the work, I just supervised. Every job needs a supervisor to blame you if something goes wrong. Didn't have to, Mike did a great gob!

Yes, he almost busted a gut on the "factory" filter. I had him try a new wrench that I bought. It is made by Vector and it is called Tru Grip. After half an hour of twisting it finally came loose. There was no risk of hitting the + lead on the alternator. He also took off the air box and pipe to the turbo to make more room. Good idea!

I also had him put in the finger touch oil drain valve. I hope it will make future changes easier.

Thanks to Mike, I will be Rammin' and Cummin' with clean oil.

Getting that factory filter off can be a bear. Why did you put in that oil drain plug thingamajig? Don't you like having oil running all down your arm?

Hey, I finally made it to the triple digits!

I guess I got lucky. I did my first oil change with no problems. My filter was tight but it did not seem as tight as some people experience. Maybe I am just super strong (yeah right!)

Don't know if this will help the next "newbie oil filter changer" or not, but here is a suggestion.

Purchase an oil filter wrench at your local auto store that is turned by use of a 3/8 drive extension and not the kind that has its own handle. When I did my first change the filter came off without a problem using a long extension and breaker bar from underneath. The turning principal is the seem as the kind with a handle, but there is more room and ease with this type wrench. Cost... not near the trouble some are stating they are having during the removal process.
