Finally got my Westach FP gauge installed yesterday. Since I happened to have more money than time, I had a local garage do it. BUT, despite telling them where to mount the sending unit, (which is at the end of the grease hose snubber), they mounted it on the top of the engine near the injector lines. I seem to remember someone saying that it should not be mounted on the engine as the vibration will destroy the sending unit. Is this correct?? If so, then I'll just move it this weekend. Thanks in advance.

I've had mine direct mount on the fuel filter for about 10k miles, and no problem yet..... Westach stuff was originally made for planes and they are pretty sturdy... . still get compliments on the three on the post---stealer thought another dealer had installed!!!:D

Thanks Jbone. I guess my erratic pressures must be due to a lift pump finally going bad. I have 68k+ on it and it's the original pump. (01 ETH)

I've had two (2) Westach fuel pressure sending units fail within 1000 miles. Both were mounted on the firewall and reading from the post-filter side (i. e. , the bottom) of the fuel filter housing using Ray's banjo bolts and braided steel lines. Both showed erratic fuel pressure and ultimately "sticking" prior to being changed out. Since installing a gauge snubber between the braided steel hose and the gauge, I've had no more failures in 4000 miles.

The pre-filter sending unit is installed the same way with no gauge snubber and has never given any trouble whatsoever.
