2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission What engine identification info is needed?

I went to my regular cummins parts carrier (kenworth etc. shop) and they changed all of their computers. Now they can't even get me an oil filter without "numbers". What are these numbers and where do I find them?

i one took my truck to a shop to get some price quotes on some work and the numbes that they were lookin for we the engine #'s

found them on the drives side of the block. they were a pain in backside to get at but with a little help from a flash light and some one to write them down it wasent as bad. hope this helps.

thanks. Are they stamped in the block or on a tag?

on a tag mounted to timing cover

You are looking for the engine Serial # and the CPL #.
