2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission What fuel sending unit is this??????

Well ater 4 years of having no working fuel gauge in my truck and my wife always "talking" to me about this, I deceided to go ahead and fix my sending unit. I droped the tank and removed the module and was going to do the repair that I read about over at http://dodgeram.org/tech/repair/fuel_sender/sender.htm

but my sending unit is different.

Here is a picture of the top of the module

The main problem is that the float is in two pieces and I tried to look up part number 52102079AC and no luck. I did find sending units for about $70. 00 and they look like the unit from DodgeRams website.



So, Who knows what sending unit do I have? And is there a replacement unit avialable?

If it's just the float then check out Fuel Tank Float - How many of us had to change it ... .

It won't matter. The fuel sending unit itself only has two wires plugged into it, so if you replace just the sending unit with the arm on it, it will work. They all work on the same ohms resistance, and have since @1972, IIRC. The same ohms used by Ford, too, again, IIRC. I believe the sending unit is available from Dodge, Part #4897669AB

Are you sure? I bought an entire (Carter) in-tank unit fitting a '97 Dodge. The resistance was completely different from my '98. I swapped the plates to make it work. (Had to swap a bunch of parts to make it work. But the fuel gauge works. For the first time 10 years or more. )

I'm pretty sure... . I could be mistaken, as it happens. But, I wire in sending units in auxillary tanks pretty regular, using Isspro sending units..... 78-10ohms... or 0-90ohm..... they work on Fords, too. I'm NOT sure about newer, '07+ trucks, or '05+ Furds... . Using the BWD 6 port fuel valve, BWD FSV2A, which allows switching of the fuel sending wires the same time you switch tanks..... In thinking on this, the newer '03+ Dodge may be 240-33ohm... ... I'll have to look at this a little closer and check back with you guys... .

Well, I just did some redneck engineering, I took some Holley float bowls and compaired the "floatabiity" between the two pieces of stock float and that of two plastic/phenolic Holley floats. it feels like two Holley floats is the same as the factory float. I modified the swing brackets and safety wired the two floats together and attached them to the swing arw and float tested it and it seems to be ok.

When I was installing the tank into the truck I noticed that I kniked the the supply and return lines at the plastic flex section. I am now looking at the Draw
Straw mod.

Are there any other "Draw Straw" type of pickups?
