Isn't it metaphysics?

"I want to know how God created the universe. I am not interested in this or that phenomenon. I want to know His thoughts, the rest are details. " - Albert Einstein

One of the great scientists of our time, Einstein claimed that his Theory of Relativity proves God's existence.

Good read about how scientific theories of the universe's origin and God go hand in hand.

This one subject I've always tried to avoid, don't think anyone has the answer and anyone telling you they do for sure doesn't. This goes both ways.

Ditto what tntway said! I'm a devoted Christian believer and therefore I will always believe that the world and us humans were created by Him to do His work here on earth. If they found the Ark my faith would not change a bit, except to say that there's a possibility that it would be strengthened.

One thing I like to speculate on, about Noah's Flood, is what society must have been like during the age. According to the Bible, God was disgusted with the way man was acting, so he decided to wipe out everything and start over...

I also believe that there was some kind of technology, at the time, that Noah used to get all that done...

The thing is, after Christs ascention, we entered what is called "The Grace Age". This is a point in time, where Christ is building a place for the Believers in Heaven, and the only sin that will keep you away from Christ, is the sin of rejecting him. A believers commandment is to go and tell all the nations about him. Christ will not return untill all have heard about him. Anybody can be with him forever. The Period of Judgement will begin at the point in time that I believe wil be the "rapture". Now, some people believe in pre-trribulation, mid-tribulation, or post-tribulation. personally, I believe in a pre-tribulation rapture.

Christ warns us of signs that we will see when the "end times" are nearing.

Israel must become a nation again,, which happened, I believe, in the '40's

The Middle East will rise up into greater power.

Man will be able to do anything heputs his mind to, and will be able to do wonders never seen before. (like computers, and machines)

Man will be very wicked, and will not think bad of sodomy, or immoral doings.

Man will be lovers of themselves, more than lovers of God.

Now, if yall are much versed in the Disciples behavior, you know Peter the Disciple was a person alot of people could relate to. When Christ ascended,, He stayed on the mount of Olives, waiting for Christ to return! Well, I don't remember who came back down,, I want to say the Holy Spirit, but I am not positive. When he came down, he told Peter to go, and spread the word (the great commandment) of What Christ has done, and that he will be returning soon. The disciples went out, and while spreading the word, patiently waited for Christs returning. Not everything is on our timetable! It's been 2,000 years, and he isn't back yet,, but, at any moment, he may be. All of the prophecies, and all people must hear about his word. (For those of you wondering,, even the people in remote regions that will never be reached by person will see God in his creation, and if they choose to believe we got here on our own, then he has made his choice)

(whew, that was a rant)

Anyway,, I believe the rapture is still a little ways off, but not too far. These events concerning the middle east are interesting to watch, as these are the same people talked about in the bible in the days of Noah, and the 12 tribes of Israel (crossing of the red sea, promised land, etc. ). It's mainly, so-and-so's sons fighting with so-and-so's sons. A battle for land, and power. When the middle East unites,, it will be a strong power, and I believe they will stop at nothing to make a one world government,, which is, one of the prophecies in the Book of Revelation for the tribulation. I'm always weary of movements for one world government, and world peace. It's only one step closer to the end.

I don't think the rapture/tribulation is an event set to happen at a certain time, but more of an event set to happen under certain circumstances. So if the 75% of the world goes up in flames (or bomb, or whatever you favorite weapon of mass destruction may be), and we all repent, and turn back to God,,, revival and all , like the early '20's, then I think "the end" will be delayed.

It is interesting to see prophecies being fulfilled, and these are way above my head, so it would be best if you actually talk to a pastor who has a doctorate.

The technology? I think more of a miracle, and God's intervention. I remember hearing (not studying) that God gave the animals some near natural instinct to come towards the boat.

I think he only need a male and female of each kind. So, one male, and one female spider will repopulate all the different kind of spiders, as well as one male, and one female dog, will produce all the breeds of dogs. It's interesting to wonder what race Noah's family was. We all came through his family heritage/line. I'm white, and I know a few people who are blacker'n black. It's hard for me to imagine that we both came through Noah.

--------------

Two flood stories? That's odd. I dont' recall learning about a second story in the books I have read. Of course I only studied about the North American thoughts and beliefs. Not worldwide.

Maybe the same story is getting mixed up a little?

It rained for 40 days and 40 nights, and then Noah and the ark stayed afloat for 150 more days (I think that's the number) untill the boat hit ground, and then another peroid of time until they could actually leave the boat.

God commanded Noah to take 2, one male, one female, of the unclean animals, and 7 of the clean animals (I might have the clean/unclean part reversed) He wanted the extra animals to be used as sacrifices for their sins (Christ had not yet gone to the cross, and this was the way to attone for your sins since the days of Adam/Eve)

(Do you know why Noah's sons couldn't play cards while on the boat? ... Because Noah kept sitting on the deck  )

I guess I got on a rant again,, as you may have noticed,, It really is a miracle (no pun intended) that I did make it through English Class.

TNTway hit the nail on the head. So to speak of course. And try giving Bluegrass Gospel music a shot. I love the stuff as well as regular bluegrass. They play it on a lot of our trailrides.

Meerick- if you find out, when the end is near, let me know, becuase I ain't payin my bills that month.

Doc,

The true belivers tidy all your speculation up into one of two categories- "The Lord works in mysterious ways" or, Satan is responsible.

Scientist are constantly changing their theories, as they disprove themselves. I don't put a lot of stock in evolution, not the way they describe it.

I think both ideas are ludicrous.

Whats my answer? I don't have one, I get dizzy when I think that deeply.

I would like to believe in the big guy, but common sense tells me we is worm food when its over, period.

Does the bible talk about the dinosaurs and such? What about the ice age?

Does it explain all the different breeds of humans?

Read Philippians 2:10,11. God doesn't say that only those who believe shall... but EVERY knee shall bow and EVERY tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord... The theory of evolution requires a lot more faith than to believe in Almighty God!!

worm food

sled puller,

You might be right, everybody's body is going to be worm food someday, but your soul is going to travel to one of two places--with God or cut off from God. Considering eternity, one place is far better than the other.

Two scientists had finally figured out how to create a man, and they were telling the Lord this, that your no longer needed. The Lord replied is this so! Please explain the process, The Lord said. The two scientist said ok you start with some dirt, and The Lord stopped them and said wait a minute, get your own dirt. :--) BIG DITTO TNTWAY.

If I find out when the Lord will come back, I will tell you, but, I will have more knowledge than Christ himself, and I would make him a lier, thus, disproving the entire Bible and making the Bible one of the biggest lies ever belived.

Mark 13:32 "But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Thessalonians 5:2 - For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

About the dinosaurs... .

Job 40, begining with verse 15, continueing through Job 41:34.

I'll save you some work, and just put up some highlights.

15 "Behold, Be'hemoth... ... he eats grass like an ox.

17 He makes his tail stiff like a cedar...

18 His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like bars of iron

13 Who can strip off his outer garment? Who can penetrate his double coat of mail? 14 Who can open the doors of his face?

Those are all retorical questions.

And here comes the details... As the Lord has said. (red letters,, you can always trust the red letters)

Round about his teeth is terror. 15 His back is made of rows of shields, shut up closely as with a seal. 16 One is so near to another that no air can come between them. 17 They are joined one to another; they clasp each other and cannot be separated. 18 His sneezings flash forth light, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the dawn. 19 Out of his mouth go flaming torches; sparks of fire leap forth. 20 Out of his nostrils comes forth smoke, as from a boiling pot and burning rushes. 21 His breath kindles coals, and a flame comes forth from his mouth. 22 In his neck abides strength, and terror dances before him. 23 The folds of his flesh cleave together, firmly cast upon him and immovable. 24 His heart is hard as a stone, hard as the nether millstone.

Here comes a well known saying.

25 When he raises himself up the mighty are afraid; at the crashing they are beside themselves.

...

26 Though the sword reaches him, it does not avail; nor the spear, the dart, or the javelin. 27 He counts iron as straw, and bronze as rotten wood. 28 The arrow cannot make him flee; for him slingstones are turned to stubble. 29 Clubs are counted as stubble; he laughs at the rattle of javelins. 30 His underparts are like sharp potsherds; he spreads himself like a threshing sledge on the mire.

He sounds pretty big to me!

----

Ice Age?

Genesis 11:1 Now the whole earth had one language and few words

This was only the begining.

Genesis 11:3 And they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly. " And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar. 4 Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. " 5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the sons of men had built. 6 And the LORD said, "Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do; and nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. " 8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city.

A place called Babylon. Interesting fact that,, this tower was not named untill after the Lord confused their languages.

Genesis 11:9 Therefore its name was called Ba'bel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.

Not too long after Babylon, people inhabited all places on earth.

how did they get to all parts of Earth? It seems like they,,, walked. Ever wondered why the Earth looks somewhat like you could slide pieces together like a puzzle?

It's theorized that the Lord did not make seperate continets, but one big land mass.

This theory is further proved with these two verses from the Bible.

Genesis 10:25 - To Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided, and his brother's name was Joktan.

1 Chronicles 1:19 - To Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg (for in his days the earth was divided), and the name of his brother Joktan.

That's all for tonight.

Your Soul is eternal.

You either Choose Eternal Life,, or Eternal Death.

You need to do nothing to choose eternal death. That Part is natural. You deserve to die, by natural sin. This is inherited through your Father, and comes from Adam, and no man is perfect. If he says he is, then he makes himself a liar on the spot. Sin is NOT Alowed in heaven. There is nothing you can do to remove your sin. That is the sole reason (pun intended?) Christ came to die on the cross. To bear our sins. As a Believer,, you can no longer sin,, any sin that you do commit, is not put on you, but is put on the cross. (This gets deep really fast,, so I will eave it at that for now)

That is how Christ was born without sin. He had no earthly father.

wsmalley, the lights! what about the lights... . this has been killing me for days!

Merrick i'm impressed! tell you me fished all that out of the bible and don't have that memorized. Either way you know your stuff.

You all speak of souls and eternity... which is fine if that is what you so believe. But consider this, it is no more correct then a person of science can prove, or than a person that plain just doesn't care. It's a point of view that some of you have, which i have NO problem with whatsoever... but also consider that it may not be correct, though your faith demands that it be.

Their are other faiths, are they "incorrect", i know i know christians have an answer for that. But what about Jews... the really old religion!

This stuff gets kind of cooky and i generally steer clear. I just don't like the attitude many "bible thumpers" (no offense anyone) have about how the end of the world is coming and everyone who doesn't believe what they believe will be exterminated.

I remember a philosophy class i took taught by a minister (perhaps a deacon that was Episcopalian<--sp?) he had some very interesting discussions on the matter. He was very open about his faith, yet open to everyone's opinion in the class. One reason i liked the class so much was the 99 i scored on the final... he commended me on my knowledge, but found one problem because in his view no one deserves 100%. I misspelled a name and he deducted a point because he couldn't find anything else wrong.

The way i see it, there isn't proof either way... . some are right and some are wrong, either way i'm living my life the way i see fit and i think everyone else should do the same regardless of what they believe.

Dude, that sounds like a dragon to me!!!

Is there anything in there about adults dating 13 year olds?;)

See, now this is where the holes start showing up. If you read American Indian lore(and others I'm sure) they make up stories to explain things they don't understand, and to scare kids into obeying.

I guess I will be eternal worm food... .

There's another thing that has bothered me... Jews don't celebrate Christmas, the birth of Christ, or believe he was the son of God.

Now help me out here, but wasn't Jesuslike, THE Jew????????

How can the Christians just hijack Jesus into their beliefs?I think if you wanted to be closer to God, you would practice the same religion Jesus was part of.

Of course, if you have enough money, Jim Baker still has his stamp of approval to let you in to heaven. The feds returned it, after he was released from prison.

Does it explain all the different breeds of humans?

I think the Bible explains the scattering of the races as a result of the Tower of Babel incident after the flood.

Not all of life's mysteries are mentioned in the Bible. I can deal with that. I also feel that one of science's greatest faults today is that they feel they have reached such a high level of knowledge that they can explain everything. They felt the same way hundreds of years ago too, and look how silly some of those theories seem now. I am perfectly happy to say "I don't have an explanation for that", and still believe everything the Bible says.

I find it interesting that my original question for this topic didn't mention the existance of God, creation vs evolution, etc. , but most of the comments have been about that. To me, that means that even to unbelievers, positive evidence of Noah's Ark would be a real threat to the theory of evolution.

Actually, it wouldn't do anything to my belief, Klenger.

it seems everyone agrees on a great flood, even science backs that up.

It could be exaggerated, since they didn't have any planes to make fly overs and check it out.

It also would make perfect sense for someone to have enough foresight to build a damn big boat, as they watched the water come up, and stick cows and chickens in it for food.

That could also have been easily stretched to include EVERY animal in the world. (except the unicorn. )
