Does anyone know the part number for the OE brake pads? I have an 02 with 4 wheel disc brakes and I am about to do a brake job.

Geno's Garage carries the Mopar pads. Go to Dodge Ram Brake Pads and Accessories-Dodge Cummins Diesel Truck Accessories – Geno’s Garage and click on the appropriate MOPAR VALUE LINE pads. You'll find the Mopar P/N to the right of Item Number : BRAKE



You can also compare your dealer's prices to Geno's.





Before you buy these pads from Genos, you should know that common opinion here on TDR feels that the Mopar Value Line pads have NOWHERE near the quality and longevity of the Mopar OEM premium pads that originally come on our trucks.

I had the same experience as KKreigh, but I don't do a lot of towing. I lived in the SanBernadino mountains for awhile, and had to drive up and down that mountain every day to Rim Forest. We have also traveled all through COlorado, and have lived in Maine for the last 8 years. I down shift as my primary stopping, and only changed my first set of pads a couple two or three years ago. I have 170,k total right now, but got clost to 150k on the original pads. Geeze, i jut remembered I have rear shoes! Better take a look :)



The rest of the truck has fallen apart though!
 
The Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads, have been the second worse pads that I have ever had. I know there are different versions of their pads but I don't remember which ones I used.



The worse pads were the EBC SUV Supreme pads, I removed them after 15k miles. The funny thing is that the EBC Extra Duty SUV pads are the second best pads that I have come across.



The best pads, from my experience, have been the Bendix TitaniuMetallic II pads. The only problem is that I can no longer find them locally in San Diego and I have to order them when ever I'm doing a brake job for some one.

I agree with HIMI@DART what he said about the EBC pads I run them to with the EBC slotted & dimpled rotors very little dust and excellent stopping power I also pull a 11000Lbs FW they maid a big difference in the mountains overall great combo.

Well, my experience with the Performance Friction brakes has been exactly the opposite. Probably different driving conditions. I absolutely detest ceramic brakes.



All said, any brakes are superior to worn-out brakes. :-laf
 
Wagner Severe Duty. Believe me I know as I was eating fronts every 17,000 with PFC pads. Autozone was eating them with the lifetime warranty until the 6-7th set. :-laf Then they stopped so I figure it was enough from them I was happy. One of my rotors did last 100,000 with the PFC pads. They all would have if I caught them before pads were gone.

I've seen the positive comments on Hawkhead brakes, and read the police car brake tests. I'm ready to buy their pads. Since Hawkhead is based in Florida, as am I, I contacted them via the web page someone posted above to see if I can buy them locally. They referred me to their nearby distributor, and this is where the confusion starts:



You've reported that Rapid Brake in WA sells the pads for ~$65. The Florida distributor only charges $25 + freight! So I have to wonder if these are the same pads! The FL guy says they're ceramic. He also says they're "cheap pads", made in Mexico. He thinks I'll be happier with Raybestos.



I found an old post that gave the Hawkhead CarboMet part number as BRACMD459. I'll call the FL guy and check this number with him. Is this still the number everyone is using?

Just checked the box on my spare set of Hawkhead Carbomet Plus brake pads that I got from Sam before he retired. The box reads: D-459

M-7339

Been reading a lot of good stuff here, but I have 155k on my OEM's and have never even adjusted the rear drums. Any reason I should switch from an apparent winner?

I was lucky to get 7,000 miles out of my pads. I tried just about every brand. I replaced calipers, rotors, hoses, etc. Since I changed to Ford calipers I now have aroung 25,000 on a set and plenty more to go. Ceramic pads, in general, are not considered the best pads for heavy duty use. They are good for keeping brake dust down. Hawk pads probably worked the best for me. GM one ton wheel cylinders also helped a lot. Good luck

WOW! You guys are blowing my mind here. Simply Amazing stories. I do believe all of you too. I am now looking forward to seeing how long I can make these brakes last but the PA inspection stations might have something to say about that. Thanks for the interesting feedback! Good stuff indeed!
Hahha! :-laf Never replied to myself. Here it is ... 3 years later and 119,000+ on the odometer and I am just now getting some little bumping when I step on the brake after some panic stops when loaded I guess, rotors must have taken some real heat cause no time to downshift or let the exhaust brake work. Pads and rotors still have material sufficient as just got my PA inspection done. Soooo will be in the market for replacement. Back brakes are fine. A true testiment to my turbo exhaust brake and driving habits i guess. I use exhaust brake contantly and always downshift. No hot rod type activity. I never thought I would ever be close to the same mileage wear category as these other big guys. Go figure. :D
