What is this bolt for? What's under it?

If it is oil... can I use it for tap point for older style amsoil bypass filter?

Thanks.

oh yes there is oil there

looking at the service manuel page 9-231

I am not expert so I will give no advice if this is the best place to tap in.

Search the archive using Amsoil bypass filter and you should find a bunch of reading

It is an excellent port for an oil temperature sensor as it leads to the oil galley that feeds the turbo. I am not familiar with the Amsoil bypass filter, so I cannot comment on whether it can be used for this purpose or not.

I was told it was a port for an oil temp sender used for overtemp shutdown applications like stationary generators and the like. I use it for an oil temp sender too.
