Is it Slow At Where You Work

Wayne, the Charmaster is HUGE, with a rated displacement of 137,000 btu's. More importantly, the firebox will hold a 30" stick and I never refuel more than twice a day, every 12 hrs. or so. It will hold almost a wheel barrel of wood with one loading. It's strickly a cold weather stove, I use a smaller freestanding Lopi Liberty for the spring and fall heat. Here's the link to Charmaster... .

I had mine shipped via truck, cost about $250 for the ride to NJ from MN, well worth it. I bought the furnace in 1995 and have zero complaints. I have it set up in the unfinished portion of the basement, no duct work, as I have HWBB heat, just a plenum. The heat rises naturally from the basement to the main and 2nd floor of the house keeping us real toasty on any winter morning, though the basement does get hot during the height of each burn cycle, small price to pay IMHO. I was just checking their site and see that they are now making a boiler, which would be even better if you already have hot water baseboard heat. The Charmaster is like the Cummins Diesel, built to work hard and last, check 'em out.

Very interesting, Scott. That was going to be my next question, if it had a boiler or not. When we had the coal burning, we had a blower moving the basement air throughout the rest of the house (was a one story ranch with forced hot air) I don't remember how much coal we used in total, but It worked out to 2-4 five Gallon mud pails a day. When I get into an appropriate home, you can bet I will do something like this again.

BTW, I was in your neck o' the woods 2 weeks ago- at Space Farms. Great place!

Wayne, yep, Space Farms is a stones throw, I'm about 20 Min. 's NW of them. Cool place, did you check out the huge male grizzly on the hill ? Next time you go, bring him marshmallows, they love 'em. If your ever in Vernon and want to see the furnace, drop me a line. Here's what the bears at Space Farms do when you show them the marshmallows, taken at a birthday party we had there for my oldest daughter a few years ago.

That place still there??

You guys are bringing back memorys.

Is Beckers farm still in Roseland? I remember their steam engine, and the old Pierce arrow(sp?) car in the garage!!

That was a long time ago.

I am living in a 2100 SqFT house right now. 3 bed rooms 2 baths and a two car gargae that neither vehicle will fit into.

We are building a custom rambler two story that will be 1900 on one level. Three bed rooms, 2 1/2 baths, mud room with doggy shower and a gargage that I can park my truck in. also a 600 sqft work shop behind the gargage.

Oh one other thing right now I live in the city my new house will is in the country. I'll be able to shooting right in my back yard. :D  :D  :D

I don't own it yet, but I will in 5 more years! It's a 'Traditional two story', 2227 + 880 basement w/2 car. I keep telling Kris, the next place will be a huge garage with a small attached house! Craig

I live in an old trailer. It's sitting on a mound out here in the ole swamp. The tires have rotted away and there's tons of old rags, from Goodwill, plugging up some pretty hefty holes. Lot's of critters stop by and yank out the rags, in hopes of making the place their home. I have to chase them out often and I don't even get any help from the dogs. Seems like the dogs enjoy all the company. The skeeters are nasty. If they find a hole, they'll suck ya dry before you can holler "OFF!" (that's what I holler to Mrs Doc, when them buggers are stingin' me).

I know a couple who live in a trailer like Doc's. They fight over who gets which side of the bed. Seems they both want the side where the fresh air comes in though the bullet holes...

Scott, maybe I'll take you up on that offer. Yep, that big 'ol bear is still at it -only now he will open wide for just about anything! He's still in that big 'ol cage on the hill.

Bachelor Pad

I live in a 1600sqft 3 bed 2 bath house with a 2 car garage and a 2 car building out back. I am 22 and live with two other guys my age. The house is home to, 2 Interstate Batteries Route Trucks, My CTD, a 94PSD Crew Cab, a 72 chevy shortwide, 64 Falcon Sprint, 55 Chevy, and my 68 Barracuda. The older cars are all in the process of Motor swaps and waiting on parts, the 55 is a full resto project that is not moving lol. Anyone want to be our nieghbors? LOL the quitest thing we have is the International Trucks :). We actualy have awsome neighbors(most of them) none of them gripe about us and are not afraid to come over and join in on some good beer drinking. Getting a Commision restructure soon that should really help me out. So a house of my own is next on the list. My insurance requires the Cuda to be garaged :) So I need at least a 3 car lol

Wayne, just let me know, obviously, the heart of winter is best, the colder the day the better to appreciate the Charmaster. You might want to bring along a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, my house seldom drops below 75 F in winter ;) .

The Ultimate Single Guy Pad

I had Bought a Brand new 1340sqft House In 1996, With a 3 car Garage!, Easy to Vacuum, and I Lot of stoage for toyss!, Now Since I am Getting Married in November, We have to Move, Wife says, Not enough room for future Kids! . So we are looking around the Tehachapi Area for a 2500sqft Home, 3 car Garage, a 100x40 Shop sitting on not more than 5 acres and not lees than 2 acres.

Doug.

Square Footage

seems you all have me beat without only 1,260sq of single story ranch on 1/2 acre. I keep telling the wife that we can sell the Ram and buy more house but she said forget it cuz it would mean more to area to clean.

BTW - My dream house is just big enough for a bed and fridge, the garage would be HUGE and the yard massive for playing in.

It's home

Built in 1996,2200 square feet 1750 heated. 2 car or might I say 1 car and 1 truck garage. 8x12 pitch roof with non-dimentional shingles.

I contracted it myself. Took 3 months and 3 days from beginning to end. Been in it for 5 years now and the highest power bill so far is $88. Can you spell insulation out the kazoo. Every thing is propane except the air cond. Propane dryer,(gas dryers are the way to go,if you can do it. Why throw 5000 watts of electricity out the door)water, heat, stove even got the grill on the 500 gallon propane bottle. Average $28 a month propane. I always prepay for propane so I don't have to pay $2. 48 a gallon. I just bought 300 gallons for $1. 00 per gallon prepay.
