CNN: False Demo Debate?

To our veterans

Mrs. Santa asked me what I want for Christmas and I told her that I wanted an mp3 player. What kind should I tell her to get?

I have been looking at the Nex IIe and the Nex ia. I liked the fact that they act like an external hard drive so no special software is needed to share or download files and it is expandable to 1GB.

Has anyone used an FM transmitter with these to transmit to the radio? What is the sound quality like?

Please give me any input so I can make the right choice.

The iPod may be a little pricey, but look at it this way - they make a 5gig, a 10 gig, and a 20 gig right now, and they double as firewire hard drives for moving regular files as well as storing/playing back music. Of course, you really need a lot of music to fill up 20 gigs. Just for reference, 5 gigs is about 1000 songs, so 20 gigs is 4000 :--) That's a lot of CD's!

Just my $. 02

I have an IROCK530 that has 128 megs of internal memory and a slot for another 128 meg card. It will store about 70 songs and runs for a long darn time on a single AAA battery. I chose it because it was inexpensive, very small, very light and very very simple to use. It is not as packed with features as the others, but it works well for the $$.

You can check out IROCKS at www.myirock.com/default.asp

I also noticed that the prices for the IROCKS on there web page are fantastic, much less than the local retailers.
