My '97 manual needs a little more power. It doesn't have near the go of my old '93. I already have my proguard 7 air filter off of my '93 installed and the exhaust is straight through. I don't need excessive power but about the same or a little more than my '93 (HO injectors and 16cm turbine housing 26psi of boost) and I would like a bit better drivability. Which would be better for me #12 or # 11 plate w/ boost elbow. Also one vendor I spoke with said I should get the 3kGSK and talked down the AFC spring kit. I would like to hear some opinions on what I should do. I plan on getting my guages in ASAP as well as gettting the timing set to 15. 5-16 degrees and a valve set.

Thanks for the help

Well, no need for a valve lash check unless you have not had it done in over 25-30K. Timing is always good and 15-16* is optimum. As for a plate I would look into a #10. I think you would be more happy with that plate over the less fueling #11 or #12. You have the NV4500 transmission so it can take the added power. Is your clutch stock?

Definately get the 3k GSK as that will really wake the engine up. Don't bother with the AFC spring kit though, cuz your not going to be running some mad fueling that will require some fine pre-boost fuel tuning.

With a #11 plate full forward, 15. 7 timing and an AFC filter as the only mods I dynoed 297hp/611tq. I've never tried another plate so I have no idea what a #10 will give you. I'm just giving you these numbers to give you a ballpark figure.

I guess I could give you my numbers from my #10 plate as well for reference. I was running my stock 215 injectors, #10 full forward, stock turbo but with 14cm2 turbine, boost set @ 38-40psi, 3k GSK and timing was still stock @ 13. 5* and I made 324hp and 750ft/lbs. :D

If you dont want to do a clutch, run a #11. only problem with a #11 is the GSK is kinda un-effective. If you dont have a california truck (180hp) and you actually have the 215hp pump, a #11 will definitley wake it up for sure.

I've run the 11 & the 10 on mine. I really like the 10 & I got by on the stock clutch for quite a while on the 10. I have the 4 k gsk minus the valve springs & it makes a huge difference towing & just getting accross an intersection. I don't rev it past 3200 but it doesn't defuel at all in that range.
