What size nut on rear companion flange?

I'm trying to change the rear diff seal on an 04. I took the driveshaft off and now am trying to find a socket to fit that big nut in there. 1 3/8 is to small and 1 7/16 is pretty loose. Must be metric but I don't know what it is. I think its either 35 or 36 mm. ??? And where would you find one? tried a couple rental stores but no luck.
 
It is indeed a 36mm 12 point which is slightly smaller than 1 7/16". If you can't find one locally or borrow one, you might be able to pick up a Lisle 22100 at any or your local parts stores. It comes with a couple tools you might not use unless you work on Duramax engines. Another option is to just buy one:
