Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) What the heck

so I am driving from WA to FLA.

I have my 5th wheel toy hauler in tow, tanks are mty

so the load is about 10000 lbs the truck has pulled this with ease

I usally run the edge comp on level 4 sublevel 2 I am tooling along I 84 climbing a grade at about 68 mph and 30 psi of boost piece of cake and all of a sudden the truck jumps turbo barks and I let off the go pedal no alarms no codes I put my foot into it slowly and it happens again. so I decide to turn off the comp box and run stock boy is that painfull. So I made some changes to the comp and i have been doing pretty well with the comp on 3-2 keeping up with traffic 68 70 with no more than 25 lbs of boost but if I start up a hill and do not keep an eye on the boost it will do this again so I pull it out of overdrive at every hill and grade and maintain about 50 55 mph ok not so bad till today had a huge head wind climbing a very long grade going to flagstaff and I had to turn off the comp

and climb this hill at 40 mph at 2500 rpm in 2nd gear.

Any ideas as to what is causing this?

I've never had it happen to me but when you said the "turbo barks" you jogged my memory. I read in a thread some time ago about it and searched it. Try this:

Also search turbo bark. Maybe you'll come up with something.
