Help, I have broken 2 wrench socket extensions in the female drain plug! Does anyone know the proper tool to use? Thank you in advance (as I am under the truck now).

I use a Craftsman 1/2' to 3/8' drive socket and use the big 1/2' drive to turn it. never had a problem . If you are breaking off drives in the pan bolt then you might be cranking it down to hard. Dont strip out your pan!!!!!

I use an actual 3/8" sq socket I bought for other purposes in the past. The Snap-On man told me that he saw a lot of square drives broken on plugs because they are not as deep as socket therefore placing more stress on middle portion of the square where the ball is. Never happened to me but it does make sense.

Buy the Finger Touch drain valve from Geno's. It works great! Put the drain pan under the truck, flip the valve, go do something else. You won't even get your hands dirty except for handling the oil drain pan.

I agree whole-heartedly with installing Geno's Finger Touch drain plug. Another benefit is how easy it is to get a midstream oil sample without any mess. #ad

Thanks to all. I went to Sears and bought a high impact tool ratchet. It was perfect. I think next time, I'll pay the $39 and have them do the oil change. Between the cost and time, I think it's a good value.

If they use the right oil, dont forget to prime the oil filter and remember to tighten and/or not over tighten and strip the drain plug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just remember the oiler is not a mechanic, gets near minimum wage and just does not give a hoot about your $35k+ truck.
my opinion

Joe Saturday (diy) visits my shop every Monday morning. You the one who blew up your truck? The warranty issues, bombing truck and blowing it up. Mad about no warranty

HAVE AT IT jOE SATURDAY, OBVIOUSLY YOU CAN DO NO BETTER THAN THE SHOPS YOU REFUSE TO FREQUENT.

I truly don't mean this personal as i dont know you, but i feel you are not in the position to chastise other people's work or shops

I've got to agree on the drain system from Geno's. I've bought a lot of stuff for my truck, but $for$, that has to rank right up there with sliced bread.

Get it and use the instant change places to dump your used oil like I do.

I may not be much, but I'm all I think about.

95 that is lightly used. Dressed out nicely with 19. 5 wheels from Rickson Truck.

I use 6 tools to do an oil change a SnapOn 10 inch swivel head 3/8 ratchet, 8 inch extension, SnapOn strap oil filer tool, creeper (if on the ground), drain pan, and funnel. . 15 min job at most. I do not understand what the problem you guys are having changing the oil filters.
I move the strap up to the very top under the oil filter band and although it is tight it comes right off.

I could not find Geno's, yes i am fairly new to this area.
What size threads are on the plug??? can't i get a valve a the hardware store?????
