I have a 24v 98. 5 2500 4x4 regular cab with 118,000 miles. I put a 9x8 Tafco flat bed on it. The truck has a three inch lift and I'm running 37 inch Hummer tires and rims. On the front the truck has a Reunel winch bumper with a 15,000 pound Warn winch along with a couple LightForce lights. It has a built automatic transmission. I had the gears changed out to 4. 10s a few years ago. The truck also has an Edge COMP box, Fass lift pump, BD X Monitor gauges, BHAF, 4 inch Dimond Exhaust, ATS Exhaust manifold and bd intercooler boots.

Here's my dilemma. The truck need's a new VP44. My wife and I have been debating weather to keep the truck or replace the VP44 and try to sell it. This truck has been my toy for the last 6 years, It's pulled my trailor house and car trailers all over the state. I've been debating weather or not to buy a Hot VP44 and do a few more upgrades to the truck or just let it go. What do you guy's think?

If I were to keep it what would be your next upgrade's? Is the Hot VP44 worth it?

Turbo? Intercooler? Hot VP44? Smarty? Injectors? Water Meth? Sell it?

If you keep it, what are you trying to turn it into? For example, I modded mine to mimic a semi tractor so that it tows well. Some guys make hot rods, some make sport trucks and the extreme guys make drag racers and sled pullers. Others go the super reliability route or pure work trucks. Follow?

What'cha makin'?

I want it to be a tow rig/very mild Hot Rod. I just got the VP44 replaced and the local diesel shop tells me that my Edge Comp is shot and probably a Major part of my Injection Pump failure.

I talked with Edge today there going to replace my Comp with a Juice and Attitude Monitor.

The Industrial Injection Modified VP-44 seems to have stood up to the test of time, with it's steel advance piston and heavy duty motherboard. Commonly referred to as the Hot Rod VP-44.

I'd grab one and keep the rig. Sounds like you have it all set up sweet like you want it.

On what basis does the shop say that your Comp is shot? My own experience with a defective Comp, along with similar experiences I've read about in the TDR forums indicate that a defective Comp is very noticeable in driveability. Did you notice any changes in driveability lately?

Mike

Its sort of funny the shop that told me the Comp was bad is the same shop that sold the Comp to me a few year's before. The shop say's the Comp was leaking forward or causing a surge at idle. I personally don't agree but I got a new injection pump and sent the Comp back to Edge with out getting to try it. I have a Edge Juice on the way.
