Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Whats so wrong with the 24 valves??

Do you guys remember the TDR12vs 24 wars back in the day? Well, without a doubt, the 12 valves have won!!!!

Hes right, minor stuff, it takes a real mechanic to repair cracked 53 blocks, replace a VP-44 15 times in 100,000 miles, change out lift pumps along the side of the road, diagnose which %^#$&%*&%*&% electronic sensor just quit and stranded you yet AGAIN!!!!... ... . and so on... ... .....

15 times in 100K?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Who in their right mind wouldn't improve that weak link? Even under warranty, Id put a FASS on. I did exactly that when my original LP went out at 80K miles.



My truck has been stone reliable, maybe I'm just lucky? I have friends with both trucks, and none of us get all bent out of shape, or criticize the other for the number of valves we have. And OMG get this, we even have some Ford and GM guys who we hang with, oh the horror!!!



I can't relate to the other maladies you introduced into discussion, like I said, my truck has been great. I do work at a Dodge dealership, and their are occasional "lemons" in 12valve, 24 valve, and CR variety. However, they are a VERY small percentage of our customer base.



Basically, be happy with what you have, they are all great trucks.

Happy Day! I finally went to check my 01 for the 53. (I've been dreading this)

NO 53!!!! The only problems I've had with my electric version have been the ones that I brought upon myself.
