Calling everyone from Austin, TX

Biggest Hunt/Fish/Camp Retailors

I had an employee who said he couldn't come to work because he couldn't find his shoes. Same guy also told me on another occasion that he couldn't come in because he had to go get firewood for a party. Needless to say he doesn't work for me any more and has been basically unemployed for the past 10 years.

Things I have heard from the same guy at work

" I am stuck in my drive way" the guy has a 4x4 truck and a tractor with snow plow??

"the garage burned down"

"wife is sick and I have to watch her day care kids"

" the dog died"

"my mother in law died" this one worked twice

" the kid missed the school bus" couldn't take kid to school on the way to work??

Now most people just say " I won't be in" really leave the reason open for more thinking later

In 16 years of real jobs, I have only asked off work twice.

I just said, I HAVE TO GO TO MUNCIE!!

It helped when I brought trophies back. :D

Although the first year, they changed my job then laid me off. I lost so much sleep over that one, I asked for 3 days off in 03.

You just have to set your priorities right.

The time that I called in, aside from the 2 times I was actually sick, I told them that I just don't feel like it today.

Govt employee in my office in the last 10 years:

"Alternator went out" at least 5 occasions

"Brakes went out" 6 "

"Dog got out of pen" 3 "

"Dog got picked up by County" 2 "

"Court date 'cuz dog got out" 1 "

"Car wouldn't start" 10 "

"Wife/Kids/dog sick" 20 "

"Tree fell on fence" 1 "

"Power is out" 5 "

"Pipes busted" every winter at least twice

"Had to get tags/inspection renewed" at least once a year

"Transmission went out" was gone for 4 weeks

Just flat didn't show up... ... too many times to count.

This is the only individual I've ever worked with that recieved 4 paychecks with $00. 00 in the amount.

Yes, he is a currently still employed GS-12

Our tax $$$ at work.

Before I became self-employed, I had a real good reason not to go to work one day. Neighbor's house was on fire (ended up burned down to ground) Fire trucks were completely blocking the lane I lived in at the time. I figured they wouldn't move their trucks no matter how politely I asked so I just called my boss and told him what was happening.

All that has to be said is explosive Diarrhea. No one will ask anything more.

Also you can name your boat "sickbed". That way you can call into work saying, "I am in my sickbed and I can't make it in today". And you are not lying either.

I named mine "Assignment. " Sorry I am on assignment.
